Trendiest 14+ Babydoll Dress Outfit Ideas You NEED to Try

I feel like I literally have not had a proper conversation with you in a century and it is honestly driving me insane. I am currently just laying upside down on my couch with my dog, drinking the most chaotic iced vanilla matcha latte I could possibly make. It is finally Saturday morning and I am having a totally lazy, rot-in-bed kind of day. The weather outside is actually so weird today for March. It is kind of sunny but there is this crazy cold wind hitting my windows, so I am just staying inside and completely avoiding all my adult responsibilities.

I am officially entering my babydoll dress outfit era. I know what you are thinking. If you had told me a year ago that I would be voluntarily looking up dresses that look like they belong on a literal toddler, I would have laughed in your face. We both know how much I usually try to look like a cool, edgy city girl. But seeing how people are styling them on Pinterest right now just completely changed my entire mindset.

It is actually so funny because it totally reminds me of last month when my mom came down from the reservation to visit me for the weekend. We went shopping downtown, and I took this super puffy, bright pink babydoll dress into the fitting room just as a joke. I put it on, stepped out of the stall, and my mom literally burst out laughing in the middle of the store. Like, loud embarrassing mom-laughter. She told me I looked like a giant six-year-old on her way to Sunday school. I was so offended but then I caught my reflection in the massive mirror and realized I really did look like a giant toddler because I was wearing it with these weird white ankle socks and my hair in pigtails.

I feel like as we are getting older, I just want clothes that are incredibly comfortable but still look like I put effort into my appearance. A babydoll dress is literally just a giant, fashionable tent that doesn’t touch your waist. It is pure freedom! So I spent my entire morning making a massive board of inspiration, and I need you to look through these with me. I put together all my absolute favorite looks.

The Classic Mary Jane Outfit Combo

Okay please look at this first one. I think it is so crazy how a simple little dress can instantly look so incredibly chic if you just pair it with the right shoes. You literally have to try this one with your new black Mary Janes that you bought last month. It just balances the proportions so perfectly and gives off this very cool, preppy vibe without being annoying about it. I feel like you could wear this to a museum date and look totally flawless.

Perfect Spring Outfit Inspo

This is giving me major spring fever right now.

Flattering Plus Size Outfit Magic

Okay so this is exactly why I am obsessed with this silhouette. It literally looks amazing on absolutely every single body type. And it is the ultimate food-baby dress! Do you remember when we went to that all-you-can-eat sushi place for your 24th birthday? I wore those stiff vintage Levi’s jeans and I literally had to unbutton them under the table in the booth because I ate so much. The waiter totally saw me doing it too. It was so mortifying! Never again. A babydoll dress hides everything, so we can eat as many spicy tuna rolls as we want.

The Ultimate Babydoll Dress Aesthetic

Sometimes I honestly still feel like we are 15 years old just playing dress up. But an outfit like this actually makes me feel so pretty and feminine.

Edgy Babydoll Dress With Docs

This is my absolute favorite way to style anything remotely girly. You just slap on a pair of heavy, chunky Dr. Martens and suddenly the outfit is edgy. The contrast between a super sweet, flowy dress and big heavy combat boots is just peak 90s grunge aesthetic. I need to dig my old boots out of my closet and polish them up just so I can recreate this exact look this weekend.

Cute Country Concert Outfit

This is exactly what I want to wear when we go to that outdoor music festival next summer! Just a flowy dress and some cowboy boots. Though I have to admit, I have PTSD from our last festival. Do you remember two summers ago when we went to that concert in the valley? I wore a cute dress but I decided to wear my brand new white sneakers instead of boots. It rained for literally ten minutes and the entire field turned into a massive mud pit. My shoes were completely destroyed and my legs were splattered with brown mud up to my knees. So yeah, definitely sticking to boots next time!

The Dress Over Jeans Y2K Trend

Okay we really need to talk about the dress over jeans trend coming back. I am still a little bit traumatized from my Disney channel days when I used to wear skirts over flare jeans. But seeing it done properly here with a sheer babydoll dress? It actually looks really high fashion and cool. I might have to be brave and try this soon.

Sandy Shores Beachy Vibe

This is exactly why I spend so much time on Pinterest. It just gives you the perfect vacation inspiration. I am absolutely saving this one for whenever we finally book that beach trip we keep talking about.

Casual Urban Sidewalk Stroll

This attitude and aesthetic is everything. I love outfits that just make you feel cute when you are literally just walking down a brick sidewalk to get a coffee. It is so effortless and casual.

Powder Puff Princess Energy

Okay I wasn’t totally sold on the super puffy, princess sleeves at first because I was scared of looking like a cupcake. But they are finally growing on me so much! It is such a fun, playful detail. Paired with some minimal makeup and messy hair, it doesn’t look overwhelming at all. It just looks like you know exactly what you are doing with your personal style.

Denim Button Babydoll Mini Dress

You already know I have a massive weak spot for anything denim. A denim dress is just the ultimate casual staple piece. I feel like you could wear this to a family barbecue or a day date and look totally appropriate for both.

Classic White Babydoll Dress Outfit

This is giving me major inspiration for when the weather finally gets super hot. A little white dress is just so classic. But you know me, I am absolutely terrified of wearing white. I am the clumsiest person alive. I just know I would end up sitting on a random piece of chocolate or spilling a taco right down the front of it within five minutes of leaving my apartment haha. But it just looks too gorgeous not to risk it.

White Dress Summer Styling Inspo

I definitely need to actually sit down and figure out how to accessorize like this. Adding a cute straw hat and some layered gold necklaces takes the dress from looking like a nightgown to looking like an actual curated outfit.

The Perfect Black Babydoll Dress

If the white dress scares me, the black dress is my ultimate safe space. You literally cannot mess up a black dress outfit. It is basically my uniform for when I am having a “I have nothing to wear” meltdown in my bedroom.

Black Babydoll Suburban Faux-Pas

I have such a soft spot for this slightly witchy, dark aesthetic. Wearing a black flowy dress with some silver jewelry just automatically makes you look so mysterious and cool. It gives off very mature, cool girl energy and I am so here for it. I am definitely buying one like this tonight.
