Okay so grab your iced matcha or whatever you’re drinking right now cause we seriously need to have a whole styling session. I was literally laying in bed for like two hours this morning just endlessly scrolling Pinterest instead of getting up to go to the gym. You know how it gets when the algorithm just completely understands your current mood. Anyway, I went down the deepest rabbit hole looking at the whole blokecore outfit aesthetic and I am officially converting my entire closet. I know we were just talking about what aesthetic we are claiming for this season, and I really think this is it for us.
Anyway, I put together a whole mood board for us. Let’s just go through them cause I need your opinion on which jerseys I should actually buy, and which ones are just a little too intense for me.

Okay starting off with a classic. I know blokecore is usually soccer, but the oversized American football jerseys are creeping in and I am here for it. The sleeves on these are always so big and boxy, which makes your arms look super skinny. I feel like you could wear this exactly how she is, with just some loose jeans and simple sneakers. It’s just very effortless.
2. Highschool Nostalgia but Better
This one gives me such major high school streetwear vibes but elevated. Do you remember when everyone used to wear those really stiff jerseys in gym class? This is like the cool, expensive version of that. I really love how she paired it with baggy pants. It’s that perfect balance where you aren’t showing a ton of skin but you still look incredibly stylish. We need to find you a top exactly like this for our road trip next month.
3. Entering our Blokette Era
Stop whatever you are doing and look at this. This is the exact intersection of blokecore and coquette – the “blokette” aesthetic. The ribbons! The little skirt! I am actually screaming. This is what I want to wear every single day. You take a sporty top and just drown it in feminine accessories. It’s giving “I watch the Premier League but I also cry to Lana Del Rey”. I feel like this would look absolutely amazing on you with your new haircut.
4. Squad Goals Honestly
I saved this one specifically because it made me think of us and Sarah. How cute would it be if we all coordinated outfits like this for a summer festival? Everyone gets a slightly different colored vintage jersey and we just do varying lengths of skirts and jorts. Group outfits usually look kinda cheesy but this just looks like a really cool girl group from the 90s. We are definitely recreating this picture.

Okay so this is a masterclass in proportions. If you are gonna wear a super baggy sports top, you absolutely need a tiny little bottom to balance it out. A micro skirt or little shorts peeking out from the hem is crucial so you don’t look like a total block. I tried wearing baggy jeans with a baggy jersey last week and I literally looked like a refrigerator. You live and you learn.
Speaking of learning, I have to tell you my other embarrassing story from a few weeks ago. So I was wearing a real vintage Real Madrid jersey I found at a thrift store. I thought I looked so cute. I went to this sports bar downtown with some people from work. I was just standing there sipping my vodka soda, and this guy comes up to me and starts talking a million miles an hour about some player transfer and asking my opinion on their new manager. Bestie, my mind went completely blank. I literally panicked and just smiled and said “yeah, totally crazy season.” I had no idea what he was saying. I was just there because the blue stripes matched my eyeliner perfectly. He eventually figured out I knew nothing about soccer and walked away looking so annoyed. It was hilarious but also slightly mortifying. Moral of the story – maybe do a quick Google search of the team you are wearing if you go to a pub.
6. The Classic Argentina Vibe
You can literally never go wrong with the Argentina colors. That baby blue and white is just universally flattering on everyone. I feel like ever since the World Cup, this specific jersey has been everywhere, but it never gets old. Pairing it with big over-ear headphones is such a mood. It’s the perfect outfit for running errands when you don’t want to talk to anyone but still want to look completely put together.
7. Festival Fashion Done Right
The Australians just know how to do festival fashion so much better than us. They really get the whole edgy but comfortable vibe. A blokecore outfit is literally genius for a music festival because the material is literally made for sweating. Like, athletes run for 90 minutes in these shirts, so you can definitely dance in them all day without ruining them. Plus they dry super fast. It’s fashion meets actual science.
8. All in the Accessories
This right here proves that the jewelry and accessories make the outfit. You can’t just throw on the jersey and call it a day, you have to style it. Stacking a bunch of silver necklaces, adding some cool wraparound sunglasses, maybe a cute little shoulder bag. It takes it from “I’m going to soccer practice” to “I’m going to a trendy brunch spot in Brooklyn”. I know you have that perfect vintage silver chain that would look amazing with a v-neck jersey.
9. Clean Girl Meets Sports
I love how crisp and clean this looks. Sometimes you just want a really fresh color palette. This is perfect for those warmer days. I actually tried to go thrifting for something like this last Thursday. I woke up at 8 AM to go to the Goodwill bins to try and find some hidden gems before the resellers got there. It was absolute chaos. People were practically fighting over the sportswear bin. I ended up finding an old local high school jersey, which isn’t exactly Premier League, but it’s red and white and looks pretty cool. Thrifting for this aesthetic is literally an extreme sport.
10. The Bold Red Statement
Okay last but not least, we have to respect the Manchester United red. Red is having such a massive moment right now anyway, so combining it with the blokecore trend is just chef’s kiss. If you wear this with a red lip and some red adidas, you will literally stop traffic. It’s bold, it’s confident, and it basically does all the work for you. You just put it on and instantly have a personality for the day.
