Honestly, every single year I tell myself I’ve finally got my personal style figured out. I get all confident. And then the weather gets warm and I’m like “Who is she? What does she even wear?”
Last week I was literally spiraling because I pulled out my storage bins and realized half my summer clothes still have that weird basement smell. You know the exact one I’m talking about! Plus, I tried on my favorite denim cutoffs from two years ago and let’s just say they are definitely not doing me any favors right now. I was basically a hair away from going on a massive, budget-ruining shopping spree to just replace my entire life. But then my older sister – who always talks sense into me – reminded me that I don’t need a whole new wardrobe. I just need to understand the vibes that are actually happening right now.
So I spent the whole weekend doing a deep dive, scrolling endlessly, and looking at what the girls are actually wearing out in the wild. And honestly? The fashion this year is so incredibly fun and totally wearable. It’s not about buying everything you see on TikTok, it’s just about tapping into these few specific energies that are hitting so hard right now.
I put together all my notes so you don’t have to do the work. Here are the three most important trends you absolutely cannot miss this summer if you want to look like you actually have your life together. Which, let’s be real, is always the goal even when we are totally just winging it. Let’s get into it!
1. The “Analogue” Library Girl (But Make It Summer)
Okay, so remember how we were all so deeply obsessed with that super clean, “Old Money” aesthetic last year? Well, she grew up a little bit, got herself a library card, and started listening to vintage vinyl records. The absolute biggest thing for Summer 2026 is what everyone is calling the Analogue Trend.
Think literary chic, but breathable. It’s very much giving “I spend my lazy afternoons reading poetry in a botanical garden” even if I’m actually just scrolling on my phone while eating a bagel on my couch. It is all about romanticizing your offline life.
So what does this actually look like when it’s hot outside? It’s all about texture and really light, intentional layering. We’re talking sheer fabrics, super light organic cotton button-down shirts left totally open over a cute bikini top, and – please don’t scream – peplum is officially back. I know, I know! I had a panic attack too when I first saw it.
But hear me out, it’s not that weird, stiff peplum from 2012 that made us all look like literal cupcakes. It’s so much more flowy and subtle now. It gives you this gorgeous, feminine silhouette without feeling like you’re wearing a business casual costume to the club.
I actually tried this look out yesterday when I went to that new cafe downtown with my cousin. I wore this oversized, slightly sheer white skirt that I thrifted, layered over some fitted white shorts. Up top, I wore this soft cotton peplum tank and my favorite turquoise choker that my uncle made me. I felt so sophisticated, like I was the main character in an indie movie. I was literally strutting.
But then, classic Anne moment, I tripped over uneven pavement and spilled half of my iced matcha latte right down the front of the white skirt. It was a disaster. A cute guy with a dog even asked if I was okay, and I just had to laugh and walk away looking like a green tie-dye experiment. So yeah, definitely keep a stain remover pen in your bag if you’re going for the all-white analogue look. Trust me on this one.
How you can actually pull it off this week:
- Focus on the “Pebble Pendants”: Forget dainty gold chains for a second. Long cords with chunky natural stones, sea glass, or heavy silver pendants are everything right now. They add that grounded, earthy feel to a soft outfit.
- Embrace the Sheer: Layer a sheer midi skirt over some cute, opaque bike shorts or a slip. It’s so incredibly breathable for August heat and looks so high-fashion with zero effort.
- The “Cloud Dancer” White: The trendiest color of the year is this soft, creamy, slightly off-white. Stick to monochrome outfits in this shade to look instantly expensive.
2. High-Voltage “Wasabi” Energy
If the first trend was a quiet Sunday morning, this next one is literally a double shot of espresso on a Friday night. If you’re kind of bored of beige and neutral tones – and let’s be real, we all have those days where we just want to be seen – you need to get on the Wasabi and Persimmon train right now.
These are the absolute “it” colors of the season. Wasabi is basically chartreuse’s cooler, more electric sister. It has this zesty, almost neon green-yellow vibe. And Persimmon is a spicy, vibrant, slightly burnt orange that just screams “take me to a beach party.”
You know me, I usually live in my oversized band tees and sweatpants when I’m at home. But I bought this Wasabi-colored silk slip dress for my friend’s birthday dinner last month. Girl, I felt like a literal glowing goddess. It’s one of those magical colors that somehow makes your skin look so warm and glowing, even if you’ve been hiding inside the office all week under fluorescent lights.
When I walked into my family dinner wearing it the next day, my Auntie just stared at me and said I looked like a very fancy highlighter pen. I was laughing so hard, but honestly, ten minutes later she pulled me aside and asked me to send her the link so she could buy one for herself. It’s such a huge dopamine hit just looking at these colors.
The real trick this year though is Clashing on Purpose. We are totally done trying to perfectly match our shoes to our bags and our belts. It’s 2026, we are embracing the chaos! Put that bright green top with a lavender skirt. Wear bright orange pants with a hot pink top. It sounds completely insane when you say it out loud, but when you just own it and walk with confidence, it looks like you stepped right off a runway.
Your 2-minute “Wasabi” Checklist for your closet:
- Start really small: If a full neon green outfit feels way too intimidating, just grab a Persimmon-colored claw clip, a bright bag, or even try some Wasabi colored eyeliner. Little pops of color go a long way.
- Mix it with Red Shoes: Bright, cherry red footwear is still huge right now. A pop of red shoes with a green or orange dress? It breaks all the traditional fashion rules, but it totally works.
- Texture is key: Look for these loud colors in shiny satins or ribbed knits. The texture makes the pigment really pop and look intentional rather than cheap.
3. The “Pirate-Core” & Modern Bohemia Revival
Okay, please hear me out on this last one because it is hands down my absolute favorite trend of the entire year. There is this massive movement right now toward “Pirate-Core” and Modern Bohemia. And no, before you ask, you do not need to buy an eyepatch or carry a sword around downtown.
Think more along the lines of romantic, cascading ruffles, big oversized “balloon” pants, flowy tiered skirts, and lots of gorgeous silk headscarves. It’s very 1970s free spirit meets a European summer vacation. It’s all about looking totally effortless, a little bit adventurous, and incredibly comfortable.
I went to that big outdoor flea market last weekend – the one where we got those amazing frybread tacos last summer, remember? – and I saw so many cool girls rocking these massive, flowy linen pants paired with tiny, fitted baby tees. It is that absolute perfect balance of “I’m a naturally cool girl” and “I’m also incredibly comfortable and can eat a huge lunch.”
I actually ended up digging through a bin and finding this beautiful vintage silk headscarf. I took it home, washed it, and tied it around my chest as a top, pairing it with my widest leg jeans. I added a bunch of my layered beaded necklaces, and I felt so incredibly powerful. I felt very Mamma Mia, even though I was literally just standing in my own backyard trying to figure out how to get the charcoal grill to start.
The absolute best part about this specific trend is that it is basically built entirely on thrifting, upcycling, and sustainability. We don’t need to be buying everything brand new anymore. It’s about finding those unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that have an actual story behind them. Mixing a vintage lace camisole with baggy cargo pants is just so much more authentic than ordering a whole pre-styled outfit from a fast-fashion website that’s just gonna fall apart in the wash anyway.
How to live your best Pirate-Core fantasy:
- Fringes are everywhere: Seriously, on your bags, your denim jackets, the hem of your skirts. If it sways and moves when you walk, you should probably buy it. It adds so much life to an outfit.
- The “Troafer” shoe: Okay, it’s a trainer-loafer hybrid. It sounds completely cursed, I know. But for walking around the city all day in a boho maxi dress, it’s a total lifesaver for your poor feet.
- Messy, chaotic layers: Throw a structured vest over a flowy maxi dress. Wear a sheer skirt over wide-leg pants (yes, the dress-over-pants thing is back and I kind of love it!). Just experiment in your mirror and have fun with proportions.
