Looking for rustic country christmas tree ideas with a little something extra? Think red bows, pinecones tucked between branches and a star right at the top.
These pictures include full trees plus smaller details you can borrow, from a beaded decoration to a pretty patchwork tree skirt.
You can keep things simple or go all out with ribbons. I especially love the red checks against green branches.
There’s even a cowboy hat topper if you want to try something a little different!
Country Christmas trees and little details to try
red ribbons and a big bow
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous red and tan ribbon combination. I love the long tails running from the big bow down to the floor.
The green bows and pinecones are just as pretty.
Try a brown star on top, then tuck white snowflakes between the branches to follow this look.
red checks and snowy branches
How cute is this checked tree? The red-and-black ornaments really stand out against those white-coated branches.
Even the tall sprays at the top carry the same pattern.
If you want to go all out, mix checked ribbon with wide tan loops like these. The little present ornaments are worth keeping too.
top hat and snowmen
I am obsessed with this top hat topper. It’s so fun, plus the little snowmen hanging below it are adorable.
The tree has red bows, striped ribbon and green baubles tucked around the lights. A round gray tub at the bottom finishes the whole display.
green beads and a tiny tree
Want a small detail rather than a whole new tree theme? This beaded decoration is such a pretty starting point.
Dark green, cream and brown beads lead down to a fringed tree-shaped pendant.
I love the tiny woodland scene on the pendant. You could hang a similar strand near the front of your tree so that detail doesn’t get lost.
red berries and pinecones
If you’re looking for a tree without lots of bows and baubles, go with this berry-filled idea. The bright red clusters sit among trailing greenery, pinecones and little white lights. I’d keep those long, loose sprigs just as they are.

oversized bells and stars
If you are looking for a true eye-catcher, then this one is for you. There’s so much to love, from the huge red bells near the top to the open stars further down.
The vertical PEACE sign is a lovely detail. Try mixing red plaid with black-and-white checks if you want the same busy, collected look.
an open twig star
Don’t want a big bow at the top of your tree? No problem! This open twig star gives you a much simpler idea to try.
I love the uneven little branches around its outline. A few red and gold-colored ornaments below it would be plenty.
citrus slices and little bundles
This may just be one of my favorite trees here. The orange and yellow citrus slices look so pretty beside the pinecones and pale cutout ornaments.
There are little bundles of cinnamon sticks hanging between them too. Try repeating a few of each decoration rather than making every branch different.
a silver-colored tree ornament
How cute is this little tree ornament? I love the dotted swirls across the shiny silver-colored surface.
It has plenty of detail without needing a bow or any extra color.
You could mix a few similar shapes with plain brown stars on your tree.
a red checked tree skirt
This is such a pretty way to bring red checks into your Christmas tree without covering the branches in ribbon. The skirt spreads out beneath white baubles, red ornaments and little pale stars.

I especially love the crate of pinecones beside the tree. Try a similar side display if you have an empty corner to fill.
pale ribbon and round ornaments
Don’t want to go all out with red? Look no further because this cream and tan combination is for you.
Round ornaments with white designs hang beside citrus slices and loops of pale beads.
Let a wide cream ribbon dip loosely between the branches. The tree already has plenty of pretty details without a large topper.
popcorn and red berry garlands
I love this simple popcorn and red berry garland. The open branches leave plenty of room to see each little loop.
If you want to follow this look, keep the rest to small lights rather than adding lots of ornaments. Sometimes the garland is enough!
a little tree in a red truck
How adorable is this tabletop idea? The miniature tree sits in the back of a red truck with a narrow ribbon wrapped around it.
You don’t need a full-size tree to try a country Christmas look. Set a similar decoration on a checked runner, then add a couple of red baubles beside it.
a tan bow topper
If you are looking for something simple at the top of your tree, this one is for you. The tan bow has big loops and long curling tails that fall between the branches.
I’d leave it plain like this rather than adding another color.
glowing lanterns and pale roses
This is a little different from the red-and-plaid trees above. I am in love with the pale roses tucked around the black lanterns. The gold-colored berry sprays are gorgeous beside them.
For your own version, choose lightweight battery-powered lantern decorations made for trees. Keep the flowers scattered from top to bottom to follow this arrangement.
colorful lights and a barrel base
Who says you have to stick to white lights? This tree has colorful bulbs scattered among little ornaments, with a pointed star sitting high above the branches.
The barrel-style base is my favorite part. It’s a lovely option to consider if you’d rather skip a tree skirt.
a cowboy hat and rope loops
Calling all Western decor fans, this tree is such a fun one to save. A pale cowboy hat sits at the top while thick rope loops wrap around the branches.
I love the little horseshoe ornaments. If you’re borrowing just one detail, try the hat instead of your usual star.
a scalloped patchwork skirt
This patchwork tree skirt is just too pretty not to include. The little fan-shaped patterns mix pink, blue, cream and darker checks, with a scalloped edge all around.
You could pair a skirt like this with simple cream ornaments so those colorful patches still get their moment.
checks stripes and dotted bows
I am obsessed with this ribbon-filled tree. There are red checks, black-and-white stripes and even polka dots tucked between the wide tan loops.
If you love mixing patterns, this is a good one to borrow from. Repeat little groups of ribbon down the tree instead of keeping each pattern in its own section.
a porch tree with pinecones
Last but definitely not least, we have this simple porch tree. I love the pinecones scattered from top to bottom!
The small lights and round gray tub are all it needs.
A red checked throw on the chair beside it brings in a little color without adding anything else to the branches.
