Looking for japandi christmas tree decor with pretty bows, simple ornaments and plenty of green showing through? These pictures give you lots to choose from, including cream stars, brown baubles and bare branches with hanging decorations.
You can keep things simple or add a few extra details. Alongside the Christmas trees, you’ll find gift wrapping and tabletop accents, plus a few colorful displays that take a different direction from the usual neutral look.
Christmas trees and little details worth saving
little houses and brown bows
We’re starting off strong with these cute little houses and long brown bows. I love the open-patterned stars tucked between the branches.
There are tiny bells, gingerbread figures and even a little sled!
If you want a simpler version, choose just the houses, stars and bows rather than copying every ornament.
silver strands and tiny lights
Don’t want to fill every branch with baubles? No problem!
This tree has thin silver-colored strands hanging among little lights, with a brown star at the top.
The gaps between the branches are part of what makes it so pretty. Leave those spaces open if you’re trying this look.
white stars and brown cones
How gorgeous are these folded stars? The large white ones sit beside smaller brown decorations on snowy-looking branches. Little brown cones hold green sprigs and touches of red.
Mix a few different star sizes to follow this idea. I’d keep the biggest white stars spread out just like these.
baskets on the branches
This is one of the more unexpected trees on the list. Tiny baskets hang from the branches while much larger baskets surround the base. There’s even a little chair ornament!
You don’t have to go quite this big. Try a handful of miniature basket decorations if you like the brown-and-green combination.
orange slices for a little color
Want to bring some orange into your decorations? This picture shows a plate piled with dried orange slices beside greenery and red berries, rather than a decorated tree.
For your own tree, you could hang ready-to-use dried slices individually or choose an orange-slice garland. Those golden-orange circles would look lovely beside simple cream ornaments.
one oversized cream bow
I am obsessed with this oversized bow. It’s such a pretty way to decorate a tree without adding lots of little ornaments.
The cream tails reach almost to the floor, with tiny lights peeking out behind them. Keep the rest of your decorations minimal if you want the bow to be the main detail.
green tree candleholders
How cute are these little tree-shaped candleholders? This is a tabletop accent rather than a Christmas tree idea, but the glossy green shapes are worth saving.
Try a grouping on a clear side table to carry green into another corner. If you use real candles, keep greenery and other decorations safely away from the flames.
blossoming branches in a dark vase
If you love a spare branch arrangement, this one is for you. Tall stems with pale blossoms spread out above a narrow dark vase.
There aren’t any Christmas decorations here. To give the idea a seasonal twist, you could add a few small hanging stars while leaving most of the branches bare.
an open star with greenery
I love this large open star with its small cluster of greenery and pinecones. The little pale star attached near the top is such a sweet extra detail.
This is a wall decoration rather than a tree ornament. Hang your version beside the tree on a clear wall, away from radiators and other heat sources.
small tree and trailing bows
If you are looking for something simple to recreate, this little tree is for you. A few pale bows with long tails decorate the branches above a rounded gray planter.
You really don’t need to add much else. I’d keep the open branches and let the bows be enough.
bare branches in a shallow bowl
This little branch arrangement takes a different direction from a traditional Christmas tree. Bare stems rise above green patches, small stones and gold-colored balls in a shallow dark bowl.
For a holiday variation, try a few tiny ornaments on the stronger branches. Or leave the stems undecorated and keep all the color down at the base.
pointed ornaments on dark branches
These hanging ornaments may just be one of my favorite details here. I love the mix of pale tan and deeper brown against the dark branches.
Some have rounded teardrop shapes while others have sharper sides. Choose a mix of both if you want a branch display like this one.
white baubles and looping beads
Want a fuller tree while keeping the colors simple? This one pairs white baubles with clear ornaments, little stars and pale bead garlands.
The open-patterned balls are so pretty among the solid white ones. Drape your garlands in loose loops to follow the arrangement here.
colorful hanging cranes
How beautiful are all these folded cranes? Pink, blue, purple and yellow shapes hang around a large branching display.
This isn’t a conventional Christmas tree or a neutral Japandi look. If you love the idea but want fewer colors, try a smaller branch arrangement with cream and pale brown cranes instead.
parasols fans and pink blossoms
This tree definitely goes all out! Large parasols sit among open fans, pink blossoms and little lanterns, with lights running throughout.
It’s much more colorful and densely decorated than the quieter trees here. For a simpler interpretation, borrow the fan shapes alone rather than combining every element.
sage green and tiny keys
I am obsessed with the sage-green baubles on this tree. The brown bead garlands, white houses and little key ornaments are so pretty together.
There are tiny framed pictures tucked between the branches too. Add a few miniature photo ornaments to your own tree if you want that personal detail.
brown bows on wrapped gifts
Don’t forget the space under your tree! These tan-wrapped presents have dark brown bows and little green sprigs tucked beneath the ribbon.
I love how the brown bows repeat on the snowy-looking branches above. Use the same ribbon color on your gifts and tree if you want to tie the two together.
cream bows beside an arched mirror
This cream-bow tree is just too pretty not to save. Clear baubles and small lights sit between the ribbons, with a basket-style collar around the base.
The tall arched mirror gives you another view of all those decorations. If you already have a floor mirror, try placing your tree nearby without blocking the walkway.
brown baubles and a narrow tree
If you’re looking for a simple color combination, go with brown and cream. This narrow tree has round baubles in both shades, little pale bows and a star topper.
The open-patterned collar is my favorite finishing detail. There’s plenty to enjoy here without introducing another color.
blush bows and candle-shaped lights
Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty mix of blush bows, cream ornaments and candle-shaped lights. I love the chunky white bead garland looping between the branches.
The little horse near the top is adorable too. Keep a few playful ornaments among your simpler decorations if you want a tree with this same collected feel.
