20 Attic Bedroom Ideas With Pretty Nooks and Clever Storage

Looking for attic bedroom ideas that work with those sloping ceilings? Think tucked-away beds, shelves beneath the eaves and a little floral wallpaper.

These rooms give you plenty to try, whether you like pale neutrals or want something with more color.

You can keep things simple or go all out with the details. There are bedroom layouts here plus a few decorating ideas from other spaces worth borrowing. I especially love the built-in bed nooks!

Attic bedroom inspiration worth saving

red stripes and exposed beams

We’re starting off strong with this pretty striped bed beneath the dark beams. I love the round white pendant above it.

The little bench at the foot of the bed holds books and a vase of branches.

Try red-and-white bedding with beige throws if you want this same mix without adding lots of extra colors.

slatted headboard wall

This headboard wall may just be one of my favorites here. The narrow brown slats stretch behind both bedside tables, with a framed picture and vase resting above.

If you’re planning storage under a skylight, save the low cupboard idea on the left too.

shelves beneath the slope

Got an awkward low wall beside your bed? This is such a pretty way to use it.

The white shelves follow the ceiling angle, with books and plants above a row of brown baskets.

Keep everyday bits in the baskets and leave a few open spaces for your favorite pictures.

florals and a window seat

How cute is this little window nook? The floral pattern carries onto the sloped walls, with pink pillows sitting on the built-in seat.

I especially love the drawer underneath.

A pale throw over one side of your seat would be a lovely finishing touch.

blue-gray bed cubbies

I am obsessed with these tucked-away beds. The blue-gray framing separates the sleeping spaces, while little shelves hold toys beside the bed in front.

This is a lovely reference for a shared-room layout. Keep the bedding pale if you want the painted frame to be the main detail.

a ladder-style shelf

If you’re looking for a different way to use that narrow space beside the bed, take a look at this ladder-style shelf. Books, folded items and a basket sit on its steps beneath the skylight.

The white bedding keeps the rest nice and simple.

dark floral wall

The green and cream pairing is so pretty in this room. I love how the flowers fill the wall behind the pale headboard, with dark green pillows and a matching throw on the bed.

Try keeping your other walls plain if you want to borrow this floral look.

white rafters and leafy branches

Don’t want to add lots of color? No problem! This room pairs white rafters and white bedding with brown baskets and a tan rug.

The big vase of leafy branches beside the pillows is my favorite part. You could try a smaller arrangement if your bedside space is limited.

brick walls and tall curtains

This is a loft-style room rather than a sloped-ceiling attic, but those tall white curtains are worth saving. They hang against exposed brick above a bed with a pink cover.

I love the arched opening beside the bed too. For a smaller change in your own room, try the pink-and-white bedding combination.

a white bed canopy

How pretty is this canopy? White draping runs overhead and down behind the curved black headboard, with green and red pillows on the bed.

You’d need to check your ceiling height and suitable fixings before adding a canopy.

striped headboard in a nook

Here’s a closer look at the blue-gray bed nook from earlier. I love the curved striped headboard and that tiny red-and-white balloon decoration.

The red lampshade is another sweet detail. Try a small accent in the same color if your built-in bed needs a little something extra.

big windows and gray bedding

If you are looking for something simple and uncluttered, this one is for you. Tall window sections follow the roof slope beside a bed with gray-and-white bedding and a large gray rug.

There’s very little decoration here, which lets you really notice those windows.

petal-shaped headboard

This headboard is just too pretty not to save. The petal shapes sit between leafy wall designs and two hanging lights.

I love the curved lines on the bedding too.

You could borrow the headboard idea for a full-height bedroom wall.

a vintage-style writing corner

If you love lots of little details, then this one is for you. There’s a typewriter on the desk, framed pictures above it and even a chandelier.

The low book nook beneath the skylight is especially lovely. Try a small writing desk near your skylight if there’s enough room to sit and move around.

art all along the slope

This photo shows an attic office rather than a bedroom, but what a collection of pictures! A framed map, illustrations and portraits cover the paneled slope and surrounding walls.

For a bedroom version, you could group a few favorite prints on an upright wall. Anything mounted overhead needs suitable secure fixings.

a sofa and desk corner

Want your attic bedroom to have more than just a bed? This room fits a gray sofa beneath the window and a desk beside the bookcase.

I love the teal pillow on the sofa. The blue-green patterned cover on the bed brings in a similar shade.

Repeating a color across your bedding and sofa pillows is a simple idea to borrow.

white shelves and bunk rails

There’s plenty of storage inspiration in this attic. Tall white shelving units with drawers frame the center aisle, with bunk rails and a ladder visible farther back.

The room appears unfinished, so this is more of a layout reference than a finished bedroom look. Those black ceiling lights look striking against all the white.

a hanging chair and star lights

How cute is this hanging chair? The pink and patterned pillows look so pretty beside the blue curtains.

The little star lights around the window are another favorite.

If you want a hanging seat of your own, have the ceiling support and installation checked first. A floor-standing chair could give you a similar reading spot.

a bathtub beneath the beams

This is one of the more unusual bedroom layouts on the list. A white freestanding tub sits beyond the bed, with a sink and oval mirror tucked under the dark beams.

I love the chandelier above it all. An open bathing area would need proper planning for plumbing, ventilation and water protection, so save this one for a bigger renovation.

a sloping shelf divider

Last but definitely not least, we have this clever shelf divider. Its sloping top follows the roofline, with a bed tucked behind it.

The open cubbies hold books, baskets and a few decorations. This is a lovely idea to discuss with a carpenter if you want to separate a sleeping nook without a full wall.
