Looking for coastal preppy room decor with a little more personality? Think blue gingham, pink pillows and sailboat art, plus a few shell-shaped details.
These rooms and decorating collages give you plenty to try, whether you’re changing your bedding or filling an empty corner.
You can keep things simple or go all out with patterns. I especially love the blue and green combinations here.
Don’t worry if pink is more your thing, though. There’s plenty of that too!
Coastal preppy decorating ideas to save
blue gingham and seaside art
We’re starting off strong with this pretty blue gingham bedroom. I love the matching blue lamps and the little seaside pictures above the curved headboard.
If you want to go a step further, try a navy storage bench at the foot of your bed. The darker blue looks so good beside those pale checks.
pink bedding and leafy pillows
How cute is this pink and green combination? The leafy pillows sit against a tall curved headboard, with a pink cover draped over the foot of the bed.
Try a pale blue bedside table if you want to bring in another color. The pink pleated lampshade ties it back to the bedding.
a seaside gallery wall
If you are looking for wall art inspo, this one is for you. There’s a sailboat, a curling wave and a large blue-and-cream oyster print above the bed.
Mix a few frame sizes rather than making everything match. I’d keep the bedding mostly white like this so you can enjoy all those little pictures.
green florals and pink checks
I am obsessed with this patterned bed. The little green bows hanging from the white bedding below the pink gingham cover are just too cute.
The green headboard and curvy lamp repeat the same color without repeating the same pattern. Try a pink lampshade to bring the whole combination together.
shells anchors and blue accents
The shell pillow fans are going to love this! This collage has a pale blue shell, a striped anchor and even a navy whale pillow.
You don’t need every piece to try the idea. Pick your favorite shaped pillow, then add a blue-and-white print or a small scalloped tray.
checked curtains and green lamps
This living room may just be one of my favorites here. I love the checked curtains with that shaped valance, plus the green lamps with pale blue shades.
The floral pillows are worth a closer look too. Try mixing those with a checked pillow rather than using the same print across the whole sofa.
ruffled stripes and a sand dollar
How adorable is that round sand dollar pillow? It sits right in the middle of the blue striped bedding in this bedroom collage.
The scalloped bedside table and ruffled edges make this such a pretty combination. Add a small seaside painting above your bed if you want to follow the same idea.
sunset colors and tall mirrors
Bring a little pink into your blue-and-white bedroom with this collage. I am in love with the sunset sailboat painting.
The pink patterned pillows pick up its colors so nicely.
Try a personalized cushion at the front of your pillow arrangement. The tall arched mirrors on either side are another detail worth saving.

matching green gingham beds
Don’t want to fill every surface with beach decorations? No problem! These green gingham beds look lovely with white bedding and a blue striped rug.
I especially love the shaped corners on the headboards. A small green patterned cushion on each bed is all I’d add here.
white flowers on a bedside tray
If you’re looking for a small detail to recreate, go with this bedside arrangement. White hydrangea flowers sit beside a few bottles on a silver-colored tray, with a pale blue book underneath.
Use a tray to group your own bedside essentials. Leave a little empty space around it like this.
a shell pillow reading corner
I love this little chair corner with its oversized shell pillow. The round side table holds a few books, while a curved floor lamp reaches over the chair.

You could try the same idea beside a bedroom window. Don’t forget a framed landscape if you want to bring a little color onto the wall.
tall surfboards and pale aqua
Want something a little bigger than a shell on your nightstand? These two surfboards definitely do that, haha!
The pale aqua one matches the accents on the white bed.
The ocean picture above the headboard is a smaller detail you could borrow instead. I’d pair it with an aqua throw for a similar color combination.
a blue patterned shelf lamp
This is such a pretty way to decorate a white shelf. The little lamp has a gold-colored base and a blue-and-white shade covered in birds and leafy branches.
Try arranging a few blue books nearby to repeat the color. The white figurine beside this stack keeps the rest of the shelf simple.
blue stripes and a red chair
If you want your blue bedroom to look a little different, then this collage is for you. There’s a deep red chair alongside pink bedding, pale blue stripes and a navy dresser.
I love the little Maine pennant among the framed prints. Choose a pennant for a place you like if you want to make the wall arrangement your own.
sailboats by the front door
Who says the bedroom gets all the cute patterns? This entryway has tiny blue sailboats across the walls, with white paneling underneath.
The shallow dish of shells is my favorite little detail. Try one on your console table, then use baskets below for anything you’d rather keep off the top.
yellow checks and blue flowers
This is another pretty way to mix checks and flowers. The yellow gingham looks so cheerful beside the blue floral bedding and striped pillows.

I love the shell-shaped cushion at the front. Keep a blue-and-white vase on your nightstand if you want another small touch of the same colors.
pink gingham and a monogram
I am obsessed with this pink and blue pillow arrangement. The small monogrammed cushion has pink ruffles around the edges, which look adorable against the long blue pillow.
Try your own initials on a front cushion if you like that personal detail. The pink gingham at the foot of the bed is worth keeping too.
coral pink and shell shapes
Don’t want a blue room? No problem there! This collage pairs coral bedding with white furniture, pink artwork and a shell-shaped cushion.
The little star pillow and pink octopus are so cute. Choose one or two playful accents if you want to try this look without filling every corner.
hanging hats and a red bow
Sometimes the things you already wear make the prettiest display. This row of hooks holds hats and bags, with a big red ribbon tied around the hat in front.
I’d borrow that bow detail for a plain hat. Hang it where you can see the ribbon rather than hiding it behind your other pieces.
hydrangea wallpaper and a striped chair
Last but definitely not least, we have this gorgeous dressing-table corner. I am in love with the blue hydrangea wallpaper and the round mirror with its gold-colored beaded frame.
The blue-and-white striped chair makes it even prettier. Try a small vase of white flowers on your table to finish the look.
