Looking for diy preppy room decor with a little personality? Pink bows, striped frames and decorated initials give you plenty to work with.
These ideas range from small shelf decorations to bigger room updates, with a few in-progress projects to inspire your plans.
You can keep things simple or go all out with patterns. Start with a color you love, then decide whether you want a little sparkle, some flowers or a whole dresser full of different designs!
Preppy room decor ideas worth saving
pink bows and a pearl border
We’re starting off strong with this super cute decorated initial. I love the pink bow pattern on the white K, especially with those pearl-like beads around every edge.
Try the same look with your own initial. Don’t forget a little pink bow in one corner if you want that extra detail.
pink waves on a round mirror
How cute is this mirror? The wavy pink and red edges are my favorite part, plus those little sparkle shapes on the uncovered sections.
For your own version, keep the pattern near the sides so you still have plenty of mirror in the middle.
pastel name pennants
I am obsessed with these name pennants. The big letters, tiny flowers and little bows are so cute together.
Pick a different color for the letters and background if you want to try this yourself. A pink-and-green combination like the one here would look lovely above a desk.
checkerboard hearts
This little painting may just be one of my favorites here. Red hearts are being added to the cream squares of a pink checkerboard, with some outlines still waiting to be filled.
Keep that red-and-pink pairing for your own design. It’s so pretty without needing any extra decoration.
a different pattern on every drawer
Don’t want to choose just one pattern? No problem!
This dresser has cream dots, pink stripes, flowers and butterflies across its colorful drawer fronts.
I especially love the bright green drawer beside all that pink. Try repeating one color across a few drawers if you want to bring your own mix together.
blush panels in progress
If you’re looking for a bigger project to plan, this blush panel arrangement is worth a look. The rectangular sections are being positioned in two columns, with alternating seams.
This is still a work in progress rather than a finished room detail. You might borrow the layout for a headboard design, but the photo alone doesn’t show how to construct or mount it.
a pastel pom-pom initial
How adorable is this letter A? The pink, peach, lavender, mint and gray pom-poms cover almost the entire shape.
Try a pom-pom-covered initial on a shelf if you want something a little different from a flat painted letter. Keep the opening in the middle clear so you can still read the shape.
green and cream wall stripes
The stripe fans are going to love this! These narrow green and cream stripes are shown in a bathroom, with tape being pulled away from the freshly revealed pattern.
For a bedroom variation, try the same colors on the wall behind your desk. You don’t have to use pink for every preppy detail.
red gingham and ruffled edges
I love these red-and-white checked lampshades. The ruffled edges are just too cute, especially above the little green lamp bases.
If you want to bring this look into your room, choose a properly fitted gingham shade for a bedside lamp. I’d keep the checks and skip any extra pattern on the base.
blue flowers and pearl-like trim
This is another pretty decorated initial, but it’s a little different from the pink one above. Blue flowers and curling stems cover the cream-colored E.
The pearl-like border follows the inside edges too. That’s the detail I’d keep if you’re trying a similar letter with a different floral pattern.
blue beads and shells
If you love a beachy detail, this one’s for you. Pale blue beads, larger white beads and shells sit along the hanging strands.

I especially love the brighter blue circles mixed in between the smaller beads. You could use this color combination for a decorative hanging beside a mirror.
a vase covered in blue bows
I am obsessed with this bow-covered vase. The mix of pale blue, dark outlines and striped bows is so pretty against the cream background.

For your own painted design, try changing the size and direction of each bow instead of making them all match. This one looks lovely even without flowers.
blue-and-white tassel pillows
Don’t want to add more pink and want something a little simpler? Look at these blue-and-white pillows.
The uneven blue bands and pale corner tassels give you plenty of detail without lots of different colors.

Try a similar patterned pillow against plain white bedding to follow this look.
scalloped wall trim
Those scalloped edges are such a cute detail. This unfinished wall project has brown trim outlining tall sections, with red tape still visible in several places.
If you’re planning your own version, a pale pink or blue finish could be lovely. That’s a color suggestion, though, not the finished result shown here.
purple flowers and pink stripes
This framed flower arrangement may just be my favorite wall decoration here. I love the three purple blooms against the white center, with pink and cream stripes surrounding them.
Choose a dusty pink frame if you want to follow this combination. The striped border is worth keeping.
a photo board with bows
Want a wall decoration that feels more personal? This board mixes photos, little illustrations and printed cards inside a white floral border, with pale pink bows around the edges.
Try your own photos and favorite little keepsakes rather than copying every piece. Leave room for a name near the top if you like that detail.
tennis racket displays
Okay, these are so fun! This collage shows tennis rackets used to display necklaces, earrings, photos and little cards.
Pick one idea for your own racket instead of squeezing everything in. I especially love the photo versions with small pictures tucked across the strings.
pink drawers with floral insides
The inside of this drawer is just as pretty as the outside. A pale pink front and ornate gold-colored handle open onto a mix of colorful floral patterns.
If you want to try the idea, choose a few patterned drawer liners that share pink or purple. You can keep the outside simple and save the busy prints for inside.
a wavy disco vase
I am obsessed with this shiny vase. The stacked rounded shape is covered in tiny mirrored squares, with pink tulips and green leaves coming out of the top.
The scattered spots of light on the wall are so pretty in this photo. Try pairing a similar silver-colored vase with pink flowers for your own display.
pink tassels on a string
Last but definitely not least, we have this adorable tassel garland. I love the pale pink, coral and deeper pink shades together!
For your own version, arrange the colors along a light-colored string and hang it above a desk or photo display. There’s no need to add bows when the tassels already look this cute.
