Looking for diwali decoration ideas with plenty of color and a little sparkle? Orange flower trails, pink lotus decorations and glowing candle displays give you lots to choose from.
There are little arrangements for your table plus bigger ideas for a wall or entryway.
You can keep it simple or go all out. Pick a spot you’d love to decorate, then start with your favorite colors.
I especially love the pink and gold combinations here!
Diwali decorations worth saving
winding orange flower trail
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous orange flower trail. I love how it curls around the little lights, with yellow flowers and green leaves along the edges.
Try following the edge of a room with the same winding shape. For your version, battery-operated lights would let you keep that glow without flames beside the flowers.
hanging diyas and fairy lights
How cute is this wall decoration? The red diya shapes have folded yellow flames, with strings of lights hanging between them.

Try hanging your decorations at different heights like these. You don’t need to fill every gap to get that pretty scattered look.
pink and yellow rangoli pieces
I am obsessed with this bright pink and yellow arrangement. The round pieces have crisscross details and little white oval decorations around their centers.
Those white-fringed outer shapes are so pretty too.
Arrange a similar set around one larger centerpiece if you want to follow this tabletop layout.
hanging bowls with pink flowers
Don’t want to go all out with lots of colors? No problem!
These gold-tone hanging bowls each hold a pale pink flower. I love the different decorative shapes above them, especially the spiral on the left.

petals and candlelight
This bowl may just be one of my favorites here. The pale pink and lilac flowers sit around three lit candles, with the light reflecting across the water.
For a similar arrangement, choose lights designed for floating displays. Leave some open water between the flowers rather than covering the whole surface.
bright doorway toran
Give your doorway a little color with a toran like this one. The dark blue band has gold-colored diamond outlines above red hanging squares and pink pom-poms.
I especially love the little white drops at the ends. The pale Ganesha figure and ornate round mirror below make this corner feel thoughtfully decorated.
flower petals in a fan
If you are looking for a bigger floral display, then this one is for you. There’s so much to love, from the pointed white-filled shapes to the orange and yellow flower borders.
The small red flower circles around the outside are a lovely extra detail. You could keep those separate accents even if you make a smaller version.
red spirals and orange circles
Want to decorate a narrow strip of floor? This row of circles gives you a pretty starting point.
Red circles with pale spirals alternate with orange circles holding little lights.
I love the loose pale petals around each edge. Keep your arrangement outside the walking path so the pattern stays out from underfoot.
purple lantern with pink streamers
How cute is this lantern? Not gonna lie, the alternating glittery and plain purple bands are my favorite part!
The long pink streamers curl beneath the rounded top.
Try hanging one against a plain wall so you can really see those colors.
pink lotus and rose petals
If you are looking for something simple to arrange, this one is for you. A large pale pink lotus sits in the middle of red and pink petals inside a gold-tone bowl.
I’d leave it just like this, without adding anything taller around it.

a decorated table runner
This is such a pretty way to decorate the middle of a table. The narrow gold-colored runner holds ornate round holders, orange floral shapes and pink blossoms.
I love the flower-shaped holder in the center. For your own table, you could use flameless candles and leave the sides clear for place settings.
pointed pink lotus petals
I am obsessed with these lotus-shaped decorations. The pointed pink petals sit in layers over dark green leaves, with deeper pink versions behind the front one.
The pictured centerpiece has a flame close to the petals. Use a battery-operated tealight for your version, especially if you’re making the petals from paper.
cascading orange and yellow flowers
Looks like the flowers are pouring out of the tipped vessel! Orange strands run down the middle with yellow ones on either side, leading into a flower-shaped arrangement on the floor.
The little glowing lights tucked into the rounded sections are so pretty. Try this idea in an unused corner if you want a display with a bit of height.
pink and gold cushion mix
Don’t want to make a rangoli and want something a little different? Look no further because this colorful seating arrangement is for you.
I love the deep pink cushions beside the pale gold ones.
Mix bold geometric designs with simpler cushions to follow this look. The matching patterned runner is a lovely detail to borrow too.

orange balloons and gold sparkle
If you want a backdrop for your Diwali gathering, this is a fun one to save. Orange, white and gold-colored balloons frame a wall of shiny gold squares, with orange floral strands tucked between them.
Keep one balloon cluster taller than the other if you like this uneven arrangement. There’s still plenty of open sparkle in the middle.
flower strands along the stairs
There is so much to love in this decorated stair corner. Long pale flower strands end in pink blooms above a low table filled with little lights and embellished holders.
The taller stands on the right bring the display up alongside the stairs. If you’re borrowing this idea, keep the steps clear and use flameless lights near the hanging decorations.
red birds in progress
These red bird decorations are still coming together, but those layered feather shapes already look so cute. One bird has rows of red pieces across its body while the other still has a plain brown center.

For a Diwali backdrop, you could finish a matching pair and place them on either side of a floral display.
gold-tone lights at different heights
Last but definitely not least, we have this gorgeous gold-tone light stand. I love how the little bowls curve around at different heights, with an orange flower ring circling the base.
If you’d rather have one tall decoration than several small arrangements, this is a lovely direction to try.
