Looking for an expensive looking bedroom without changing every single thing? A tall headboard, long curtains or a pretty bedside lamp gives you somewhere to start.
These rooms have plenty of details worth borrowing, from cream bedding to darker walls and oversized mirrors.
You can keep things simple or go all out with a chandelier. I especially love the little bedside arrangements.
Sometimes flowers and a favorite book are the part you’ll want to recreate first!
Bedroom ideas worth saving
a tall tufted headboard
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous button-tufted headboard. I love how far it rises above the pillows.
The cream and taupe bedding keeps everything else simple.
If you want to follow this look, mix pale pillows rather than choosing one matching set. You don’t have to smooth out every fold.
white layers and a sunburst mirror
How pretty is this all-white bedroom? The shaggy throw and large rug are my favorite parts, plus that little round pouf at the foot of the bed.
Try a sunburst mirror above your headboard if you want a little decoration without adding another color.
long cream curtains
If you are looking for something simple to borrow, this one is for you. The cream curtains hang from black rods close to the ceiling and reach all the way to the floor.
I love the little bedside lamp and the tall potted tree. There isn’t much else here, which is part of what makes it so pretty.
wall molding and slim lights
This bedroom may just be one of my favorites here. I love the slim glowing lights inside those tall wall frames.
The two prints above the dark headboard are such a lovely finishing touch.
Keep your bedding pale if you want to try this same combination of taupe walls and darker green.
a gold-tone reading light
Don’t want to fill your bedside table with a big lamp? Try a wall-mounted light like this gold-tone one.
The long jointed arm reaches right over the edge of the headboard.
Those dark geometric wall decorations are so interesting too. I’d keep them as a pair, just like this.
olive bedding and orange glow
Who says you have to stick to white bedding? I am obsessed with this olive bedspread and the big orange globe light.
The burgundy rug looks so good underneath.
Try one oversized print above your bed to follow this room. The trailing greenery is another lovely detail if you want to bring in more plants.
black bedding and gold-tone benches
If you are looking for something a little more dramatic, then this one is for you. There’s a tall black headboard, dark bedding and two matching benches with gold-tone frames.
I love the matching lamps on either side. The decorative wall lights above them make this room feel especially dressed up.
a boldly veined bedside cube
This bedside table is anything but plain! The dark branching pattern stands out so much beside the white bed.
Pair a similarly patterned table with a slim black lamp if you want this look. A small bunch of white flowers is a pretty addition without covering up the whole top.
a textured beige wall
Don’t want to add artwork or a mirror above your bed? No problem there! This mottled beige wall has plenty of detail on its own.
I love the simple headboard and the tall vase of dried stems. Keep your pillows in similar pale shades to try the same understated look.
an oversized patterned rug
This is such a pretty way to give the area around your bed a little more attention. The cream rug reaches well beyond the bench, with raised patterns and fringe along the edge.
The three botanical prints are lovely too. Try a row of similarly sized pictures above your headboard if you like this arrangement.
a chandelier and pale shades
I am obsessed with this chandelier. The rows of clear hanging drops look so pretty beside the tall tufted headboard.
The tan window shades and dark bedside chest keep this from being an entirely white room. Don’t forget a pale fringed throw if you want to follow the bedding too.
a mirrored bedside corner
Love a little shine? This mirrored chest and tall matching mirror give you plenty.
The clear lamp base and white flowers are gorgeous together.
That little turquoise bowl is my favorite detail. Try one small colorful accessory if you want to break up all the silver tones.
rounded edges and an arched mirror
How cute is this rounded bed frame? The chunky sections around the base go so well with the curved chair at the vanity.
I especially love the light around the arched mirror. If you’re planning a bigger bedroom update, this is a lovely reference for combining a dressing area with the rest of your room.
charcoal and brown layers
If you’re looking for a darker bedroom, go with this mix of charcoal, taupe and brown. The rumpled throw and layered pillows are just as pretty as the artwork above them.
That glowing pendant beside the bed is worth saving too. I’d choose a similarly open shade to keep the light visible.
pink tulips and a book
Sometimes the smallest corner has the prettiest idea. I love these pink tulips in a clear vase, with a little patterned container beside them.
Try placing your own arrangement on a large book like this. Leave some empty space around it so you can still see the tabletop.
an ornate floor mirror
This gold-tone mirror may just be my favorite statement piece on the list. The decorative top and corners are gorgeous, especially with the chandelier reflected inside.
The pale curtains around the bed make the reflection even prettier. For your own room, secure a large floor mirror appropriately rather than simply copying its leaning position.
a rounded reading corner
Have an empty corner beside your bedroom window? This rounded chair and matching footstool are such a cute idea for it.
I love the curved floor lamp reaching over the chair. Add a small round table for your books if you want a similar spot away from the bed.
tall panels and matching lamps
This is another pretty wall detail, but it’s a little simpler than the decorative molding above. The narrow vertical strips run all the way up behind the bed.
The matching lamps and pale framed prints finish it off. Try a taupe throw across white bedding to bring that wall color into the rest of the room.

a glowing tray ceiling
Don’t forget to look up! The light around the recessed ceiling is the detail I love most in this bedroom.
There are bedside lamps and small ceiling lights too.
If you already have a tray ceiling, save this as a lighting reference to discuss with an electrician. The pale bedding and bordered rug are easier details to borrow on their own.
layered pillows and paired prints
Last but definitely not least, we have this gorgeous taupe bedroom. I love the dark edging on the larger pillows and the long fringed throw across the bed.
The two oversized prints and pale bench complete the look. Start with the pillow arrangement if you want to try just one part of this room.
