Looking for red and white outdoor christmas decor with a little something extra? Candy cane paths, oversized bows and peppermint decorations give you plenty to choose from.
I especially love the red stripes against a white porch.
You can keep it simple or go all out. Most of these pictures show outdoor displays, with a few indoor or less Christmas-specific details included as inspiration to adapt. For anything outside, choose decorations and lights rated for outdoor use.
Christmas decorating ideas for your porch and yard
candy cane walkway
We’re starting off strong with this super cute candy cane path. Red-and-white striped stakes line both sides of the walkway, with strings of lights hanging between them.
If you want to go a step further, add a taller candy cane beside the door like the one here. Don’t forget its red bow!
red bows beneath the windows
How pretty are these matching window decorations? The greenery and big red bows look gorgeous against the white house and black shutters.
Repeat the same bow on your front-door wreath if you want this coordinated look. The little trees beside the entrance are a lovely addition.
candy-striped porch columns
I am obsessed with these candy-striped columns. The wide red stripes wrap around the white posts, with lights running along the porch roof.
The red-and-white checked chair and decorative presents are just as cute. Try one of those details if wrapping every column feels like too much.
hanging baskets with red berries
Don’t want to fill your porch floor with decorations? Look up instead! These hanging baskets are full of trailing greenery and bright red berries.
I love this against the white siding. For a little more red and white, you could add a checked bow to each basket.
oversized hanging baubles
If you are looking for a true eye-catcher, then this one is for you. Giant shiny red baubles hang down the porch, each topped with greenery and berries.
The red seats and plaid pillows carry the color all the way along. Those oversized ornaments are definitely the detail I’d borrow first.
red sled and glowing lanterns
This red sled may just be one of my favorite details here. I love the greenery draped over the front, especially with the little gold-colored ornaments.
Try a sled display beside your porch railing with pale lanterns nearby. Keep it off the walking route so there’s still room to get to the door.
a Christmas tree in the yard
Want to go all out with your lights? This house has glowing garlands around the porch, wreaths at the windows and a big decorated tree in the yard.
The red bows and striped present beneath the tree are so pretty. You could bring more white into your version with white ornaments among the red ones.
stacked presents and striped bows
How adorable is this present display? The tall stack decoration has oversized striped bows, with green dots, checks and tiny tree designs on the packages.
Round red-and-white boxes sit around the bottom. I’d keep that mix of shapes rather than making every present look the same.
a big bow on the garden gate
Don’t want to go overboard with the decorations? No problem!
This garden gate has one full green wreath with a large red bow and long tails.
There isn’t a white accent here, but a red-and-white ribbon would be a pretty swap if you want to follow that color scheme.
garlands around the entrance
I love this garland framing the white porch. It dips across the top and runs down the columns, with big red bows above.
The little lit trees on both sides of the steps are gorgeous too. Repeat your decorations in pairs if you want to try this same arrangement.
red bows on a white fence
If you are looking for something simple, this one is for you. Green garland hangs in loose curves along a white picket fence, with red bows marking the posts.
You don’t need to fill every picket. I love how much of the white fence still shows.
an oversized bow on the door
This is actually one of my favorite ways to use a big red bow. It covers much of the little wreath, with ribbon stretching across the door like a wrapped present.
The lit trees and neutral-colored packages keep the rest understated. Choose white decorative boxes instead if you’d like more white beside the red.
Rudolph mailbox
How cute is this mailbox? The sparkly red nose, little brown ears and red antlers turn a plain white mailbox into Rudolph.
A big dark red bow finishes the post below. If you try a similar decoration, keep the mailbox opening and any address numbers clear.
red flowers and a checked bow
I love the red-and-white checked ribbon on this hanging basket. The red flowers and rounded green leaves make it a floral display rather than an obvious Christmas decoration.
For a Christmas version, you could keep the long ribbon tails and swap the flowers for evergreen sprigs and red berry decorations.
glowing deer beneath a starburst
These two glowing deer are so pretty beneath the hanging starburst. There’s no red in this display, so it’s more of a lighting idea to build on.
If you want to bring it into your red-and-white scheme, try adding red bows to nearby porch planters. I’d leave the deer themselves simple.
white branches and berry stems
If you love a full holiday planter, this one is for you. Tall white branches rise above the greenery, red berries and white-tipped pinecones.
The dark red plaid bow is my favorite part. Keep its tails hanging over the front of the pot so they don’t disappear among the branches.
gingham bows and patterned ornaments
I am obsessed with these little red-and-white ornaments. The striped baubles, swirled designs and big checked bows are such a cute mix.
This close-up doesn’t show an outdoor setting. Borrow the colors and patterns for a porch tree, but choose outdoor-rated versions rather than assuming these decorations can go outside.
a big Christmas greeting
Let the greeting be part of your decorations with a large hanging sign like this one. The red and green “Merry Christmas” lettering stretches across the entrance above a bow-topped wreath.
I especially love the matching trees and red presents below. The white house gives all those little red details a lovely backdrop.
red flowers and white snowflakes
How gorgeous is this red-and-white garland? Large red flowers sit among white baubles, fluffy white trim and dangling snowflakes.
This picture shows an indoor staircase, not an outdoor railing. For a porch version, borrow the flower-and-snowflake pairing using outdoor-rated decorations and lights. I’d skip the fluffy trim outside.
peppermint lollipop planters
Last but definitely not least, we have these adorable peppermint lollipops. I am obsessed with the red-and-white swirls!
They stand above greenery in white baskets tied with red bows.
Group a few at different heights beside your steps to follow this look. The matching candy decorations along the railing make it even cuter.
