Looking for small bathroom ideas with bathtub inspiration that isn’t all plain white tile? Think glossy green walls, pink tub surrounds and little shelves for your towels.
These rooms give you plenty to choose from, whether you like a simple shower curtain or a freestanding tub.
You can keep things understated or go all out with color. I especially love the vintage-style fixtures and clever storage details. There’s also a shower-only room included for its shelving idea, rather than its bathtub layout.
Small bathroom bathtub looks worth saving
teal tiles and a dotted curtain
We’re starting off strong with these gorgeous teal tiles. I love how the color fills the whole tub alcove while the white bathtub keeps things simple.
Try a pale curtain with a little pattern like the one here. The gray rug with white spots is another cute detail to borrow.
tiny green squares
How cute is this pale green tile? The little squares cover the walls, window recess and bathtub front, with a clear folding screen along the edge.
If you want to follow this look, keep the accessories minimal. That small cactus on the windowsill is plenty.
claw feet and vintage-style fixtures
This bathtub may just be one of my favorites here. I love the decorative gold-tone feet and the matching shower fixtures against the white tiles.
The recessed shelf below the window is worth saving too. It gives the bottles their own little spot without adding another rack beside the tub.
a patterned floor and tall window
If you love a patterned floor, this one is for you. Black, white and gray shapes run from the doorway toward the bathtub under that tall window.
There’s a separate glass shower enclosure on the right, too. I’d borrow the thin black border around the floor if you want a similar finishing detail.
brown texture around the tub
Don’t want to stick with white walls around your bathtub? Try a brown textured tile look like this one.
The narrow horizontal pieces cover both the back wall and the tub front.
I love the little rectangular niche near the tub. The dark floating cabinet and white vessel sink carry the same brown-and-white pairing across the room.
tall shelves beside the bath
This is such a pretty way to work storage into a bathtub corner. The tall charcoal cabinet has open shelves for baskets and folded towels, with drawers below.
Keep a little pattern around the bath if you like this combination. The gray-and-white strip beneath the window is my favorite detail.
cream curtains and gold-tone details
I am obsessed with this simple cream-and-white bathroom. The gold-tone shower fixtures and ladder-style towel rail look so pretty beside the pale veined tub surround.

A full-length curtain like this is a lovely option if you prefer that look to a glass screen.
green tile inside and out
If you are looking for something a little different, then this tiled bathtub is for you. Glossy green rectangles continue down into the bathing area and across its wide edges.
I love the pale pink tiles above the green. Save this as a fitted-bath design reference rather than a quick decorating project.
floral wallpaper above the bath
How pretty is this floral wall? The tiny leafy pattern sits above white tiles, with a curved freestanding bathtub underneath.
The large white pendant and gold-tone tap are gorgeous together. If you want to borrow just one decorative touch, try a small framed picture above the tiled section.
a curved corner bathtub
Don’t want the usual straight-front bathtub? This corner version gives you another shape to consider.
I love the rounded front with the white tiled walls.
The dark shower fittings match the curtain rail overhead. Keep that pairing if you want a similar look without adding lots of color.
a tub beyond the glass shower
This room has both a freestanding bathtub at the far end and a separate shower beside it. The clear enclosure lets you see the bath from the doorway.
I especially love the long ledge beneath the window. A few small plants there would be a lovely detail to try if your own layout has the space.
charcoal walls and black fixtures
Who says you have to choose pale tiles? This bathroom goes dark with charcoal walls, a matching tub front and black shower fittings.

The white bathtub and rectangular sink really stand out. I’d keep the accessories just as simple as they are here.
shelves above the toilet
Running out of places to put your towels? The tall shelf unit above this toilet is a storage idea worth saving.
Baskets sit up top while folded towels fill the lowest shelf.
This photo shows a shower rather than a bathtub. Borrow the shelving idea for a bath layout only if you have suitable space above the toilet.
brown slats and pale veining
I am obsessed with the brown slatted wall and ceiling around this bath. The pale veined surfaces and gold-tone fixtures look gorgeous beside them.
The bathtub sits behind glass with a raised step in front. This is one to save for its fitted layout as well as that lovely color combination.
a skylight over the bathtub
That skylight is the detail I’d save first. It sits above a white bathtub surrounded by pale tiles with gray veining, all beneath a dark ceiling border.
The long recessed shelf keeps the wall simple. Try a few small pots there if you like the greenery without wanting a large plant beside your bath.
pink tiles and a curved screen
How cute is this pink bathroom? I love the slim vertical tiles and the rounded top of the clear shower screen.
The gold-tone shower fittings are so pretty against the blush walls. Don’t forget a little color on the ledge if you’re borrowing this look, like the blue-and-white checked piece here.
matching taupe panels
If you are looking for something understated, this one is for you. The taupe bathtub panel matches the vanity doors, with pale tiles around the shower and window.
I love the large round mirror above the sink. The brown herringbone floor brings in a pattern without adding another bright color.

three shelves above the tub
This is another lovely storage idea, but this time the shelves sit above the end of the bathtub. White tiles make a simple backdrop for the brown shelves, folded towels and little baskets.
Try mixing everyday items with one or two decorative pieces rather than filling every inch. I’d keep the small tray on the tub corner, too.
soft beige squares
Don’t want to go overboard with patterns? No problem!
These beige square tiles have slight color differences that give the bath surround a little variety.
I love how the tiled section stops well below the ceiling. The plain white wall above it leaves room for that decorative hanging light.
a ladder full of greenery
Last but definitely not least, we have this plant-filled bathroom. I love the tall ladder beside the glass shower!
Hanging pots fill the upper rungs while white towels hang below.
The freestanding bathtub sits under the window to the left. If you want to try a similar ladder arrangement, leave a clear route between the bath and shower.
