20 French Country Wall Decor Ideas With Mirrors, Florals and Rustic Details

Looking for french country wall decor ideas that go beyond a framed print? Ornate mirrors, blue-and-white plates and little botanical pictures give you plenty to choose from.

There are some dressier looks here, plus simple country touches if you’d rather keep things understated.

You can fill a whole wall or start with one pretty piece. I especially love the leafy wreath and the shelves of mismatched plates.

Pick the details you’d enjoy seeing in your own home.

French Country Wall Decor to Inspire Your Next Refresh

layered gold-colored mirrors

We’re starting off strong with these gorgeous ornate mirrors. I love the mix of tall curved frames and smaller rectangular ones, with a white frame tucked between all that gold.

For a smaller version, try overlapping two mirrors beside a floral chair. Secure any leaning pieces rather than leaving them balanced against each other.

blue-and-white plate wall

How pretty is this plate collection? The blue-and-white designs look so good above the dark brown sideboard.

There are round plates, oval dishes and rectangular platters all mixed together.

Try putting your largest platter off to one side instead of right in the middle. Keep a few matching dishes below if you like this fuller look.

blue scenic wallpaper

I am obsessed with this blue scenic wallpaper. The little trees and buildings are so pretty around the curved mirror, especially with those pale hydrangeas underneath.

If you want to follow this bathroom look, keep the lower wall white and let the pattern fill the space above it.

landscape above a carved shelf

This little wall arrangement may just be one of my favorites. A framed landscape sits beneath a two-arm sconce, with a heavily decorated shelf below.

The small portrait and stack of books are worth keeping if you try something similar. You don’t need another large picture to fill the shelf.

oval candle-style sconces

If you’re looking for a pretty detail for a narrow wall, these oval sconces give you plenty of inspo. I love the patterned gold-colored backplates against the pale vertical paneling.

Hang a pair at staggered heights to follow this arrangement. Choose flameless candles if you want a candle-style look without an open flame.

green wreath on a mirror

Don’t want to fill your wall with lots of little pieces? No problem! Try a leafy green wreath over a dark windowpane-style mirror.

The big tan bow is my favorite part. Let its tail hang into the center of the wreath if you want that same relaxed finish.

hanging pans and a kettle

Who says your kitchen wall has to be all pictures? This rail holds copper-colored pans, a rounded kettle and a circular piece with a raised grape design.

I love the ornate picture frame just above it. Try pairing a decorative frame with your own cookware display rather than keeping the two on separate walls.

four botanical prints

If you are looking for something simple to arrange, this one is for you. Four botanical prints sit in two rows, with muted green leaves and little pink and blue flowers.

Choose matching brown frames to follow this look. The small vase of flowers below is such a sweet extra touch.

open roman numeral clock

Don’t want to add florals or a gallery wall? This large open-face clock gives you a different option.

I love how the wall color shows through the Roman numerals and the space around the hands.

rustic shelves in a white recess

These uneven brown shelves look so lovely against the white recess. A long shallow bowl fills the top shelf while the little vases and books leave plenty of empty space below.

You don’t have to fill every shelf. I’d keep the lowest one bare, just like this.

shutter shelves and trailing plants

How cute is this shutter-style shelf? The chipped pale green finish, rows of slats and trailing plants give it so much detail.

Mix upright books with a few short stacks to follow the display. If you’re adapting a shutter yourself, make sure the shelves and wall fixings can support what you put on them.

roosters in frames and on shelves

Calling all rooster fans, this wall goes all out! There are little figurines on dark shelves, framed pictures and a large rooster plate mixed into the arrangement.

I especially love the different frame shapes. Keep one repeated subject if you want to mix this many styles without choosing a matching set.

hanging flower bundles

This is such a pretty way to decorate a small corner. Two dried flower bundles hang upside down from a dark bracket, with purple blooms on one and tiny yellow-and-white flowers on the other.

Hang yours at slightly different heights. A little pale ribbon like the one here is all the extra decoration I’d add.

tall woodland wall hanging

If you are looking for a true eye-catcher, then this one is for you. The tall woodland scene reaches high above the brown cabinet, with dark green trees filling most of the picture.

I love the pair of decorative urns underneath. Keep smaller accessories low if you want the tree scene to stay visible.

printed sack-style hanging

Want a more rustic detail? This sack-style hanging has bold black lettering, red rings and brown bars across the top and bottom.

The Michigan wording makes this an American country accent rather than a French sign. You could borrow the hanging format for a French-inspired print if you want to stay closer to the theme.

blue le petit coin sign

I love this little blue sign with its white lettering and curled flourishes. The shaped outline makes it pretty enough to hang on its own.

“Le petit coin” is a familiar French expression for the toilet, so this would be a playful choice for a bathroom door or the wall beside it.

ornate cream wall molding

This one is much dressier than the rustic shelves above. The cream wall has a large central molding frame, curling corner details and narrow decorated panels on either side.

Don’t want to add any pictures? No problem there! Leave the middle empty and let the molding be the decoration.

basket wall and colorful flowers

How lovely are all these round patterns together? The wall display mixes a large spiral design with flower shapes, dark borders and smaller basket-style pieces.

This leans more relaxed country than formal French. Try a smaller grouping with dried flowers below if you like that side of the look.

ornate framed menu board

I am obsessed with the frame around this chalkboard. The curved top and dark gold-colored detailing make even a handwritten drinks menu look decorative.

Try a framed board in your kitchen for your own menu or a short welcome message. You can keep the lettering simple.

plate rack on pale green paneling

Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty plate rack on pale green paneling. I love the mismatched blue-and-white dishes lined up across the three rows.

The green bottles below are such a lovely addition. If you’re recreating the look, try a rack close to your wall color so the patterned plates get the attention.
