There are so many pretty spots to decorate, even if you only want to change a few things.
You can keep it simple or go all out. I especially love the smaller displays here, from the Santa mugs to a bowl filled with ornaments.
Pick your favorite corner and start there!
Holiday decorating ideas worth saving
greenery and trailing ribbons
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous staircase garland. I love the rounded green leaves mixed with pinecones and darker branches.
Those long orange and cream ribbons are such a pretty change from red.
Let your garland dip between the posts, then add trailing ribbons at the gathering points to follow this look.
plaid stockings and lanterns
How cute are these plaid stockings? The red berries above them bring the same color onto the mantel, with tall lanterns on either side of the mirror.
Try the plaid cushions nearby if you want to carry the look into the room. Keep cushions and other decorations safely away from an active fireplace.
green candles and red berries
If you are looking for a smaller centerpiece, this one is for you. Three dark green candles sit at different heights in a round tray filled with greenery, pinecones and red berries.
I’d use flameless candles for a version with decorations tucked this close. You still get that pretty green-and-red combination.
little cabinet wreaths
I am obsessed with these little kitchen wreaths. It’s such a cute way to decorate without filling up every bit of counter space.
Hang each wreath from a long red ribbon to follow the cabinet display. The framed snowy scene and little lit tree below are lovely extras if you have a spare corner.
a wreath with dark green tails
Don’t want to go all out with bright colors? No problem! This leafy wreath has tiny lights and a long dark green ribbon hanging below it.
I love the plaid cushion on the bench beside the door. It adds a little pattern without changing the simple color scheme.
colorful bedroom lights
If you are looking for an all-out Christmas bedroom, then this one is for you. There’s so much to love, from the multicolored lights around the window to the Santa pillows on the bed.
The red plaid bedding is a good starting point for your own version. Add a patterned throw if you want another festive layer.
Santa mugs on display
How adorable is this coffee corner? I am quite literally obsessed with the Santa mugs hanging beneath the shelf.
The large star, little white snowflakes and gingerbread house give you plenty of ideas for the shelves above. Bring out your Christmas mugs instead of keeping them behind cabinet doors.
a red bow by the mirror
Give your bathroom a little holiday detail with greenery and a red bow beside the mirror. My favorite part is the folded red towel tied with a pale ribbon. It looks like a little present!
For a similar counter display, choose flameless candles near the towels and branches.
Santa’s miniature snack station
Is that a tiny red fridge next to a matching microwave? This little snack station is just too cute.
The elf and miniature cake below make the two-tier tray even more playful.
Add a red checked bow to your own tray if you want to bring that same pattern into the display.
red bows across the windows
This window display may just be one of my favorites here. I love the big red bows against the gray-green wreaths.
Repeat the same ribbon on neighboring windows to try this look. The smaller arrangements along the sill bring in even more red with berries and round ornaments.
snowy branches and burgundy ornaments
I am obsessed with this Christmas tree. The burgundy ornaments and long pale ribbons look gorgeous against the snow-dusted branches.
Don’t forget the little burgundy bows if you’re trying a similar combination. I’d keep the pale tree skirt too.
gold-tone bells and burgundy bows
If you’re looking for a way to decorate shelves without replacing everything, go with a few bells, greenery and bows. The books, baskets and framed art still have their place here.
I especially love the large gold-tone bells on the middle shelf. One resting on its side makes the grouping feel a little less formal.
one wreath in a white kitchen
Don’t want to cover every cabinet with decorations? This kitchen keeps it simple with one wreath above the range hood.
The red berries and pinecones are enough to give that whole stretch of white cabinets a holiday touch.
For your own kitchen, choose a spot away from cooking heat and follow the appliance’s clearance guidance.
nutcrackers and little trees
The nutcracker fans are going to love this! Tall colorful figures stand between little lit trees, with a snowy village picture hanging above.
Spread a white snow-like layer across a console to try the same setting. I love the tiny sleigh tucked into the middle.
a porch framed in greenery
Welcome everyone with this gorgeous Christmas porch. The garland runs across the top and down both columns, with big red bows marking the corners and center.
The little lit trees beside the steps are so pretty. If you have a smaller entry, try just one on either side of your door.
a hot chocolate corner
Who doesn’t love a hot chocolate bar? This one has jars of marshmallows and colorful toppings lined up in front of a framed sign.
The candy canes stand in a mug beside them.
Set out mugs beside your toppings so everything has a place. The red-and-white candy canes already add plenty of decoration.
ornaments in a pedestal bowl
Don’t want to add another tree or wreath? No problem there!
Fill a clear pedestal bowl with patterned ornaments and tuck greenery around them.
I love the red, white and gold-colored details on these oversized baubles. The little reclining deer beside the bowl make the table display even prettier.
stockings on an open shelf
No mantel? This is such a cute alternative.
Two checked stockings hang from an open shelf beneath a small Nativity scene and little house decorations.

The greenery across the top and long string of gold-tone bells are my favorite details. Try a trailing red ribbon on one side to follow the same look.
big bows along the stairs
This is another gorgeous staircase idea, but it’s a little more dressed up than the first. I love the burgundy and dark green bows with their gold-colored edges.
Weave a wide patterned ribbon through your garland if you want the same full look. The tiny lights peeking between the branches are worth keeping too.
colorful hanging stars
Last but definitely not least, we have this beautiful window full of stars. I am obsessed with the mix of red, yellow, orange and blue patterns!
Hang stars at different heights instead of making one straight row. The little pumpkin-shaped decorations between them give this display a playful twist.
