Looking for new years mantel decor with a little sparkle? Think gold fringe, silver disco balls and stars hanging above the fireplace.
You can keep your greenery in place or try something completely different with colorful candles and a big party banner.
These 20 photos include mantel displays, repeat views and a few table decorations you could adapt for your shelf. I especially love the clocks and glittery stars. For anything near a fireplace, keep decorations clear of heat and use flameless candles beside greenery.
Mantel inspiration for your New Year celebration
clocks and scattered gold stars
How cute are these clock-face plates? The black background, scattered gold stars and little lights make this table setting feel ready for midnight.
This isn't a mantel display, but you can borrow the clock idea. Try a standing clock on your shelf with a few gold stars around its base.
gold fringe and frosted greenery
We’re starting the mantel displays with this gorgeous gold fringe. I love the little star lights running through the frosted greenery. The big Happy New Year banner is such a fun finishing touch.
Keep the white and gold balloons on a cold hearth if you want to follow this arrangement.
gold stars and white flowers
I am obsessed with the hanging gold stars in this party collage. There’s a tower of glasses, white clothing, food and bottles on ice, so this is party inspiration rather than a fireplace setup.
For a mantel version, borrow the white tulips in a silver-colored vase and hang a few gold stars above them. You don't need to recreate the whole party scene.
painted disco ball banner
Want a big greeting without lots of little decorations? This brown banner has gray disco balls, black lettering and scattered gold stars.
The painted grid lines are my favorite part.
The date here reads 2026. If you’re making your own version for above the mantel, choose the year you’re welcoming.
disco balls and bright candles
How fun is this fireplace full of disco balls? I love the pink foliage beside the gold-framed mirror.
The colorful tapers make the shelf just as playful as the opening below.
Try this disco-ball arrangement only in a fireplace that won’t be used. Keep the mix of large and small sizes for the same piled-up look.
black bows and silver shine
This is actually one of my favorite details on the list. Little black bows sit beneath the glowing tapers, with silver balls tucked into the greenery below.
The black pennant banner hangs across the mirror. Pair those dark accents with white bead strands if you want to try the same combination.
layered mirrors and gold trees
I love this collection of gold-framed mirrors. The smaller ones sit in front of the tall mirror, with gold bottlebrush trees on one side and disco balls along the shelf.
The oversized 2024 banner belongs to the pictured celebration. Swap in your own year if you want that same bold row of numbers beneath the greenery.
hanging stars and party balloons
Here’s another view of the gold-fringe mantel from earlier. The hanging stars are easier to notice here, especially the large outlined one on the right.
I also love the clear balloon with gold confetti inside. Mix one or two into white and gold balloons if you want a similar hearth arrangement.
a tall mirror above the sparkle
Want to see how that gold display looks in the whole room? This wider view shows the tall black-framed mirror and pale candleholders above all the fringe.
The shelf decorations stay low enough to leave most of the mirror clear. That’s a lovely detail to borrow if you already have a large mirror over your fireplace.
oversized silver year balloons
If you are looking for something big and shiny, then this one is for you. This wider view of the silver display shows the full row of 2023 balloons and a little gold-and-silver cluster on the floor.
Choose balloons for your celebration year. The silver fringe beneath the greenery is worth keeping too!
baubles on long ribbons
Don’t want to add a banner or big numbers? No problem! This garland has silver and gold baubles hanging from ribbons at different lengths.
I love the mix of round green leaves, pale foliage and white berries above them. Leave some space between the ornaments so you can see each one.
disco balls and white bead strands
This is such a pretty way to keep your greenery after Christmas. A large disco ball and a smaller one sit beside tall white tapers, with gold tinsel winding through the garland.
The chunky white bead strand is my favorite little detail. Let yours dip across the front rather than pulling it straight.
paper fans and a cheers banner
OMG, how fun is this mantel? The black, white and gold paper fans fill the space above the mirrors.
Balloons stretch across the shelf with a Cheers banner underneath.
If you want to go all out, this gives you plenty to borrow. I’d keep the fans in different sizes just like these.
little star lights in the greenery
This close view returns to the gold-fringe display. I especially love how the glowing star lights spread across the frosted branches instead of hanging in one straight line.
If you already have a winter garland, try adding star-shaped lights before deciding whether you want the fringe and banner too.
vintage-style clocks and letter cards
The clock fans are going to love this! Several little clocks sit among silver decorations, draped beads and stacked books.
Above them, clipped letter cards spell out Ring It In.
This is a narrow display rather than a full mantel. Borrow a small cluster of clocks for your shelf and hang a similar letter garland above it.
pastel fringe and gold stars
Don’t want to stick to black and gold? This star-themed mantel has pink, pale blue and cream fringe beneath a large gold-framed mirror.
The photo isn't explicitly a New Year setup, but the stars are lovely inspiration for one. Try a similar pastel garland with a small New Year greeting if you want to adapt it.
silver trees and a giant star
I am obsessed with the big star on this winter mantel. The silver cone trees and round ornaments look so pretty against the pale greenery.
A row of smaller stars hangs below the shelf. For your own version, use flameless pillar candles and leave the hearth clear if you plan to use the fire.
gold bottles with year numbers
How cute are these gold-colored bottles? Each one carries a single number, with curly gold decorations coming out of the top.
They’re shown on a table spelling 2025, but you could arrange a similar set on your mantel. Change the numbers for your celebration and let the bottles be the main decoration.
glowing stars above the fireplace
This star-filled display may just be my favorite one so far. I love the different pointed shapes and the tiny dots of light across them.
There are stars on the mantel as well as hanging above it.
Keep your mirror and framed picture in place if you like this layered look. A few illuminated stars around them would be a lovely starting point.
copper-colored leaves and little lights
Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty table setting with copper-colored leaves and little lights. The black napkins look gorgeous beside the pale runner.
This final photo isn't a mantel, but the trailing leaf arrangement is an idea you could carry over. Try a similar garland along your shelf with lights woven between the branches.
