20 New Years Eve Decor Ideas With Balloons, Stars and Sparkle

Looking for new years eve decor ideas with a little sparkle? Gold balloons, tiny mirrored balls and star-covered ceilings give you plenty to work with.

These pictures include big party backdrops plus smaller details you can borrow for your table or entryway.

You can keep it simple or go all out. Pick a color combination you love, then decide whether you want a whole photo corner or just a pretty centerpiece for the countdown.

New Year's Eve decorations worth saving

gold numbers and black balloons

We’re starting off strong with these giant gold 2026 balloons. I love the little black and gold balloons packed underneath them, especially the tiny clusters tucked between the larger ones.

Try the same arrangement with the year you’re celebrating. A separate balloon bunch on one side is a cute extra touch.

silver fringe and a coupe tower

How pretty is this party corner? The silver fringe covers the walls behind a tower of shallow glasses filled with golden-colored drinks.

Even the round mirror catches some of that sparkle.

If you’d rather skip the stacked glasses, line up your coupes on a tray in front of a similar fringe backdrop.

a glowing disco ball vase

If you are looking for a small decoration with lots of shine, this one is for you. Mini mirrored balls sit inside a tall clear vase with little lights winding between them.

I love the white branch decorations at the bottom. Keep those if you want a little winter detail too.

a balloon clock

I am obsessed with this balloon clock. It’s just so cute, plus the gold numbers look lovely against the black and pale balloons.

Arrange numbered balloons in a circle and add a clock-hand shape in the middle to borrow the idea. Leave the wall inside the circle clear like this one.

silver curtains and hanging circles

Don’t want to fill your photo backdrop with balloons? No problem! Try shimmering silver curtains on either side of a white center panel.

The hanging circle strands are my favorite part of this setup. They give you a little decoration down the middle without covering the whole backdrop.

a midnight dinner table

This countdown table may just be one of my favorites here. I love the gold-rimmed clock beside the MIDNIGHT sign, plus those little clock faces on the napkins.

Gold plates, black round placemats and scattered stars carry the same colors across the table. Try a short length of gold tinsel on your chair backs for another matching detail.

stars across the ceiling

Who says all the decorations have to go on the table? This living room has gold and dark stars hanging overhead, with smaller star garlands stretching across the room.

The Christmas tree is still up too. If yours is staying a little longer, hanging stars could be a pretty addition for New Year’s Eve.

clear confetti balloons

If you’re looking for a balloon idea with a little color, go with these clear balloons filled with multicolored confetti. The long gold ribbons trail down to the white-covered table.

Keep your table decorations low if you want to follow this setup and let the balloon bunches sit above them.

black and white striped cups

The stripe fans are going to love this! These black and white cups have a narrow gold-colored band around the bottom.

You don’t need a pattern on every piece of tableware. I’d pair these with plain white plates and gold-colored napkins to keep the same simple mix.

a dressed-up drinks station

Bring a little sparkle to your sideboard with this drinks display. I am in love with the white star decorations across the mirror.

The large silver-colored bowl of bottles looks so pretty beneath them.

Try arranging your drinks and little treats at different heights like this. A New Year greeting on the mirror would finish your own version.

fringe overhead

If you are looking for an all-out party setup, then this one is for you. There’s black, silver and gold fringe hanging in wide rows across the ceiling, with oversized round ornaments underneath.

I love how the balloon columns repeat those colors at the back. For a smaller room, you could borrow just one overhead fringe row.

black plates and mirrored balls

I am obsessed with this dinner table. The mirrored balls look gorgeous beside the black taper candles and little glowing votives.

White napkins sit on stacked black plates, each topped with a gold-colored starburst. Keep that little detail if you want your place settings to match the sparkle down the middle.

a party prop corner

How cute is this little photo corner? Not gonna lie, those oversized pink glasses are my favorite part!

Pointed party hats sit beside a frame in front of silver and gold fringe.

The frame here says 2024. For your own party, swap in the right year and set out a few props within easy reach.

disco balls on a pale runner

This is another mirrored-ball table idea, but it’s a little different from the black one above. I love the pale table covering and the gathered golden-colored runner.

The scattered round confetti and little white tree shapes are so pretty between the larger decorations. Try a mix of small and large mirrored balls to follow this arrangement.

clock faces everywhere

Calling all countdown fans, this table is full of clock details. Different clock faces cover the dark surface beneath clear glasses and glowing tealights.

The gold-edged dishes and tiny scattered stars tie everything together. You could borrow the idea with printed clock faces beneath your own centerpiece.

chandeliers and disco balls

Okay, this is absolutely gorgeous. Gold and silver mirrored balls hang around sparkling chandeliers, with a huge gold ball right in the middle.

This is inspiration for a larger venue rather than a quick home decoration. If you want something similar for an event, ask the venue about professionally installed hanging decor.

a basket of party accessories

Don’t want to decorate every corner and want something super simple? This basket of gold, silver and black party accessories is a lovely little starting point.

I love the pointed hats tucked between the shiny fringe pieces. Place a similar basket near your entrance so guests can choose an accessory on their way in.

pink balloons and twinkling lights

Love pink instead of the usual black and gold? This picture is a baby shower setup, with baby-themed lettering and blocks, but the pale pink, white and silver balloon arrangement is worth borrowing.

For a New Year’s Eve version, leave out those baby shower details and add your own countdown sign. I’d keep the curtain of little lights behind the balloons.

gold stars and layered fringe

There is so much to love about this gold and silver backdrop. Shiny star balloons sit above giant 2024 numbers, with curved fringe garlands layered across the silver curtain.

Use the year you’re celebrating for your own version. Don’t forget the little stars along the floor if you want to carry the look all the way down.

colorful new year paddles

Last but definitely not least, we have these cute round New Year decorations on sticks. I love the colorful borders and handwritten greetings!

Colorful beaded strands are scattered around the three paddles.

Try your own version with the current year and colors that match your party. You could display the finished paddles together in a cup on the prop table.
