Looking for hallway nook decor that makes use of that little empty spot? A pretty chair, a few corner shelves or a small table with flowers can give you somewhere to start.
These ideas include simple displays, reading seats and storage worth borrowing for your own hallway.
You can keep things simple or go all out with framed pictures. There’s even a classroom reading corner in the mix, with a few playful details you could adapt at home.
Hallway Nook Ideas Worth Saving
cream chair and curved lamp
We’re starting off strong with this pretty cream chair and black curved lamp. I love how the lamp reaches right over the seat.
The little dark table has just enough space for the books and mug shown here.

Drape a throw over one arm if you want to follow this look.
round mirror and flowering branches
How gorgeous are those flowering branches? The large white vase sits beneath a round mirror, with a tiny shaded lamp at the other end of the curved console.
The striped and floral cushions on the lower shelf are such a cute extra touch. Try that mix if your table has an open shelf below.
dark paneled bench nook
I am obsessed with this dark paneled nook. The tan bench cushion and pale pillows look so pretty against it, especially with those black checked cushions tucked behind.

There are little shelves on one side and two lights above the seat. Keep a pale tasseled throw at one end to copy the look.
books around a little mirror
Have a narrow wall at the end of your hallway? This book-filled setup gives you plenty of inspo.
The shelves run almost to the ceiling, with a small hanging mirror fitted into a gap.
I love that the books are the decoration here. You don’t need to add lots of little ornaments.
painted arch and simple bench
This painted arch may just be one of my favorite ideas here. It frames a simple bench, two prints and a little hanging plant without needing an actual recessed nook.
Try a muted beige arch like this one with a cream cushion and plants on either side. For a similar glow beside a throw, I’d choose flameless candles.
a desk beside the stairs
How cute is this little desk spot? The blue-gray desk fits beneath an arch, with two shelves and a globe light above it.
I especially love the sailboat picture leaning behind the chair. Add a small framed scene to your own desk if you want something other than a blank wall to look at.
autumn branches and pumpkins
Bring a little fall into your hallway with this tall stool and branch arrangement. The brown leaves look so pretty beside the framed autumn scene.
A basket of pumpkins and a draped throw sit below. If you already have a stool, try using it for a vase rather than buying a larger table.
pictures and a petal pendant
If you are looking for lots of detail, then this one is for you. There are gold-colored picture frames, tree-patterned walls near the ceiling and a pendant with big petal-shaped sections.
That little chair and round table through the doorway are adorable too. Borrow the gallery wall if your own hall only has room for a shallow cabinet.
dark drawers and yellow tulips
I love this dark chest with the ornate oval mirror above it. The yellow tulips and floral lampshade make such a pretty pairing.
Try leaning a small framed picture on your chest rather than hanging every piece. The little gold-colored frames here are lovely beside the darker drawers.
a gallery around the landing
Don’t have floor space for another table? No problem!
This stair landing is all about the walls, with pictures in different sizes arranged around an oval mirror.
Keep the frames above the paneling to follow this idea. I love the mix of tiny oval frames and larger rectangular ones.
curtains around a window seat
How sweet is this window nook? The blue-patterned curtains frame a seat filled with red checks, pink flowers and a little goose-shaped cushion.
The small white stool below is another favorite detail. If you have a recessed window seat, try curtains at the opening for a similar tucked-away look.
a small drinks station
If you’d rather use your extra nook for drinks than seating, this one gives you a starting point. A brown cabinet sits beneath two shelves, with glasses hanging under the lower one.
Group bottles on a tray like this to leave room for a little lamp. The trailing plant above is a pretty touch.
a playful reading garden
This one is a classroom reading corner rather than a hallway, but how cute is the garden theme? Green floor cushions sit behind a little picket fence, with leafy decorations covering the walls.
For a home hallway, borrow the green cushions and low book storage only if you have a nook outside the walking route. Leave the fence for a separate play area.
olive drawers and a curtain
This is such a pretty way to combine display space with everyday storage. The olive-colored unit has drawers above an open row of shoes, while a cream curtain covers the tall opening beside it.
My favorite part is the light over the framed picture. Try a picture light if you want to give one small artwork a little extra attention.
shelves tucked into a corner
If you’re looking for a way to use a narrow corner, go with shelves like these. Each one fits between the walls, with plants, a framed photo and stacked books spread across them.
Don’t forget the space underneath. A handled basket finishes this little arrangement without adding another shelf.
one vase on a pedestal
Don’t want to go overboard with the decor? No problem! This tall pedestal holds a single rounded vase with long, uneven branches.
I love how much empty wall surrounds it. Try one large arrangement at the end of your hall rather than filling every bit of space.
hooks and a little stool
This little entry corner has so many details worth borrowing. There’s an oval mirror, a row of hooks and a black wall basket, all above a small cushioned stool.
The hanging basket of greenery is my favorite part. Keep a shallow dish on a shelf for your keys if you want to try a similar setup.
a lighted display recess
Who says hallway decor needs a table? This long wall recess holds framed art and a few decorative pieces, with small lights shining down from above.
I especially like the rounded orange vase. If you already have a niche like this, leave gaps between your pieces rather than lining up lots of tiny objects.
coffee above organized drawers
Calling all coffee fans, this little station has a detail worth saving below the machine. The open drawer is divided into rows of tea packets, utensils and small baskets.
The two pale mugs look so cute together on top. If you’re adapting this for a hallway, choose a spot with a suitable outlet that keeps the machine and its cord out of the walkway.
a telephone seat and floral pictures
Last but definitely not least, we have this lovely chair-and-table combination. I am obsessed with the little ruffled seat cover!
The floral pictures above it look so pretty in their gold-colored frames.
A wall-mounted telephone sits to one side. Try a small vase of pale flowers on your own table to borrow the look without needing every vintage-style detail.
