20 Mudroom Drop Zone Ideas for Bags, Shoes and Everyday Extras

Looking for mudroom drop zone ideas that give your bags, shoes and keys somewhere to go? Think basket-filled shelves, little entry benches and hooks right where you need them.

These spaces include full walls of cabinets plus smaller setups you can take inspiration from without having a separate mudroom.

You can keep it simple or go all out. Start with what you usually leave by the door, then pick the storage that fits.

I especially love the green bench nooks and the little tray for keys!

Mudroom and Entryway Ideas Worth Saving

basket towers and a white bench

We’re starting off strong with this pretty white bench and its basket-filled shelves. I love how the tall storage sits on both sides, leaving the hooks open beneath the window.

Try giving each basket a specific job, like hats or spare bags, rather than filling them all with a little of everything.

a tucked-away charging cabinet

How useful is this little cabinet? The open doors reveal outlets, charging cords and narrow compartments for devices right beside the bag cubbies.

If you’re planning something similar, have an electrician help with the outlet setup. Keep the nearby bench available for bags and shoes.

backpacks below the calendar

If you are looking for something without a big bench or cabinets, this one is for you. A long row of black hooks holds backpacks beneath a calendar and to-do board.

The stacked wall baskets are a nice extra. Give incoming papers their own basket so they don’t end up tucked inside a backpack.

a cubby for everyone

I am obsessed with how clearly this setup is divided. Each column has a labeled basket, a tall space for a bag and a shoe bin at the bottom.

The two reminder boards above are worth borrowing too. You could use one for your morning checklist and the other for things to take along.

a slim planning panel

Don’t have a whole wall to spare? No problem!

This narrow dark panel fits a weekly planner, a monthly planner, hooks and a hanging paper roll beside the door.

I love the little light above it. The nearby bench stays separate, so the planning area doesn’t take over the seat.

navy cabinets and vertical slats

This navy setup may just be one of my favorites here. The brown slatted backdrop looks so pretty with the matching bench top and two display shelves.

There are hooks beneath the lower shelf and drawers below the seat. Keep a few framed pictures up top if you want your storage corner to feel a little more decorated.

a little tray for keys

Don’t want to add a whole storage unit? Start with something small like this oval tray.

It holds keys and sunglasses on the console, with a letter tucked behind them.

The rounded mirror and little dome-shaped lamp are so cute together. I’d leave the tray right at the front where it’s easy to reach.

mirrored doors and a small seat

I love this compact bench beside the tall mirrored doors. The vertical slats continue behind the hooks, while the white drawer below keeps the bottom of the nook simple.

Try hooks at different heights like these if you want a similar arrangement for shorter bags and longer jackets.

individual lockers with shoe drawers

If you are looking for lots of separate storage, then this one is for you. There are baskets above, hooks inside the tall compartments and pull-out drawers filled with shoes below.

I especially love that each hanging section has its own door. You could assign one whole column to each person rather than sharing every shelf.

a playful pegboard wall

How cute is this pegboard? There’s a little instrument up top, a hanging goose and a bright red backpack among the hats and bags.

The narrow rounded mirror is a lovely addition too. Try mixing a few display shelves with your everyday hooks instead of making the whole wall storage-only.

a spot for dog-walking supplies

The pet supplies get their own drop zone here! Leashes hang along one side of the white pegboard, with a brush, checked cloth and spray bottle in the baskets.

I love the little shelf of treat jars. Add a hook for a favorite toy if you want to follow this setup.

a patterned boot tray

If you’re looking for something simple to add beside your door, go with a boot tray. This brown one has a raised border and a repeating loop pattern beneath the boots.

There’s a gray version propped behind it too. Pick the color you prefer rather than feeling like every entry detail has to match.

muted green and matching baskets

I am obsessed with this muted green built-in. The row of brown baskets looks gorgeous above the paneled backdrop, with a yellow bag adding a little extra color.

The tiny lamp at the end of the bench is such a sweet detail. I’d keep the rest of the seat mostly clear so there’s still room to sit.

a peg rail with a display shelf

This is a lovely way to mix storage with things you actually want to display. A backpack and colorful coats hang below framed artwork, a book and a little plant.

The mustard-yellow coat is my favorite splash of color here. Try a long peg rail with a shelf above if you want a similar setup without a bench.

white panels and black lights

If you are looking for a simple bench layout, this one is for you. Black hooks sit against white horizontal panels, with open shoe spaces underneath the brown seat.

I love the triangle-patterned pillow and the pair of black wall lights. A basket on one end gives smaller extras a place to land.

a wall for papers and reminders

Have more loose papers than coats to organize? This wall gives you plenty of ideas, from the tall calendar board to the stacked file baskets and small envelope pockets.

The keys have their own hooks beside the boards too. Try keeping everyday reminders up high and a separate display for artwork below, like this one.

two rows of bag hooks

Sometimes the bags need the whole wall, haha! This setup uses two rows of black hooks against gray-green paneling, with larger sports bags above and more backpacks below.

If you try this arrangement, leave enough space between the rows for your longest bags. Check the hooks’ weight ratings before loading them up.

an arched green bench nook

How gorgeous is this little nook? I am in love with the green paneling and mustard-colored seat cushion.

The patterned pillows make it even prettier.

Shoes sit in the open cubbies below while bags hang beneath the display ledge. Keep a few favorite pictures up top to follow this more decorated look.

dark green with gold-colored handles

Don’t want lots of open baskets and cubbies? This dark green setup gives you tall cabinets, upper cupboards and drawers beneath the bench.

I love the gold-colored hooks and handles against that deep paint color. One basket and a pale pillow are all the bench needs here.

a narrow bench beside the doorway

Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty little entry bench. The pale brown seat and shelf look lovely against the white vertical panels.

Three black hooks, a striped pillow and a single drawer keep it simple. Add a small plant and framed picture above if you want the same finishing touches.
