Looking for mantel decor with candles that feels a little more personal? Start with tall tapers, a favorite mirror or a few little seasonal details.
These pictures include decorated mantels plus tabletop and wall displays you could adapt for your fireplace area.
You can keep it simple or go all out with greenery. One picture has no candles, but its colored bottles offer another detail to borrow.
For arrangements with leaves, books or ribbons nearby, choose flameless candles rather than copying the open flames.
Candle displays and mantel ideas to save
three golden candlesticks
We’re starting off strong with these pretty cream tapers and gold-tone holders. I love how the tallest candle sits in the middle, with the dark paneled wall behind it.
Try a little group at one end of your mantel if you don’t want to decorate the whole shelf.
cream candles and pale flowers
How pretty is this mix of cream candles and pale flowers? Some pillars sit on turned holders while others sit lower, all in front of a large framed mirror.
If you’re looking for mantel decor ideas with candles in soft colors, this is a lovely starting point. Keep your flowers to one side rather than spreading them across the shelf.
greenery around the mirror
I am obsessed with the greenery climbing up this mirror. It spills across the mantel and down toward the candle-filled hearth too.
This is definitely the go-all-out option! To borrow the look, use flameless pillars in clear cylinders wherever the leaves surround the candles.
lanterns and pinecones
If you love a big lantern, this one is for you. The large dark frame on the right looks so pretty beside the clear candle cylinder and the pinecone tucked into the greenery.
A smaller lantern sits at the other end. You don’t need identical sizes to try this arrangement.
a wreath above the candle glow
Don’t want candles on the mantel itself? No problem! Here, the pillars are grouped inside the fireplace opening, with another candle display in a lantern beside it.
The shelf stays leafy and simple beneath a wreath and two empty window-style frames. For your own version, use flameless candles in an unused fireplace.
black holders and a round mirror
This is such a cute way to keep the mantel mostly white. Three slim black holders bring in tall white tapers, with a round black-framed mirror beside them.
I especially love the little fall letter board leaning in front. Swap the message when you want a change without rearranging everything.
tapers and scattered autumn leaves
I love these gold-tone candlesticks beneath the large dark-framed mirror. The holders vary in height, with a few autumn leaves and dark berry-like clusters along the shelf.
Keep the seasonal extras sparse if you want the candles to be the main detail.
raised pillars and leafy branches
How gorgeous are these pillars on their tall gold-tone stands? This picture shows a dining-table centerpiece rather than a mantel, with leafy branches gathered around the bases.
For a mantel version, try the raised candles in a smaller group and leave out the table settings. Check that each base fits fully on your shelf.
rounded leaves and white berries
This may just be one of my favorite mantel combinations here. I love the rounded blue-green leaves and little white berry details beneath the cream candles.
Clear cylinders sit between shorter gold-tone holders. Keep that mix if you want something a little different from a row of matching candlesticks.
burgundy bows and winter branches
The burgundy bows are so pretty against all this greenery. Thin pale tapers rise above the branches, with dark red ornaments hanging below.
Try long ribbon tails at the front of your mantel for the same look. Flameless tapers are the better choice around this much foliage.
a candle-filled fireplace opening
Don’t want to add a garland or a wreath? This fireplace display gives you another direction.
White candles sit in rows beside patterned glowing holders, with taller candles toward the back.
You could borrow the arrangement for an unused firebox with battery-operated candles. I’d keep the little gold-tone sculptural accents off to one side, just like this.
tall tapers and clear cylinders
This is another leafy mantel, but the extra-tall pale tapers give it a different look. Shorter pillars sit inside clear cylinders beneath the ornate mirror.
The branches spilling over the pale carved surround are my favorite part. You don’t need bows or ornaments to make this one feel complete.
book stacks and white bows
How sweet are those long white bows? Stacks of books frame the opening beneath a thick mantel shelf, with glowing pillars in the middle and tiny lights above.
Borrow the colors and bookish details, but use only flameless candles near books and ribbon. There’s no need for a real flame to get this look.
a vase full of colorful tapers
Who says spare candles have to stay in a drawer? This tabletop display gathers blue, green, yellow and pink tapers in a ribbed blue-gray vase.
They're unlit, almost like a little candle bouquet.
Try the same idea on your mantel beside leaning artwork. I love the small blue-and-white cup tucked in front of the frames.
glowing candles under a cloche
I am obsessed with this little cloche display. Pale pillars sit beneath the clear dome with a small green sprig and a light-colored base.
It’s shown on a table, but you could try a similar grouping on a deep mantel. Use flameless candles under a closed cloche.
green tapers and brown bows
The dark green and brown pairing is so pretty here. Unlit green tapers sit in slim gold-tone holders tied with oversized brown bows, beside a tiered tree ornament.
This is a surface display in front of a leaning mirror rather than a visible fireplace. It would make lovely mantel inspiration too, especially with flameless tapers if you keep the ribbons.
autumn leaves and little ghosts
How cute is that ghost beside the fireplace? The mantel has an orange-brown leaf garland and slim dark candleholders at either end, beneath a framed autumn scene with little ghosts.
Keep the pumpkins down on the hearth if you want to follow this arrangement. That leaves room for the garland to stretch across the shelf.
colored bottles and dried stems
This picture is a windowsill arrangement with no candles, so it’s a companion idea rather than a candle mantel to copy. Still, those amber and green bottles are too pretty to overlook.
You could borrow a small bottle grouping for one end of your mantel and add flameless candles separately. I’d keep the tallest stems toward the back.
white tapers and little pumpkins
This autumn coffee-table display has such cute details. Two white tapers sit beside little orange and white pumpkins, with trailing greenery around the holders.
For a mantel version, try the candles and pumpkins without the larger book stack or bowl of pinecones. A few of these pieces would be plenty.
curved sconces and a small mirror
Last but definitely not least, we have these slim black candle sconces. I love the long curved arms beside the small ornate mirror.
There’s no mantel in this picture, but the wall arrangement offers an idea for the space above yours. Choose flameless candles for a similar glow without open flames close to the wall.
