Looking for a board and batten mudroom with somewhere to hang your coat and leave your shoes? These spaces have plenty to choose from, including white paneled walls, green cabinets and benches with baskets tucked underneath.
You can keep it simple with a few hooks or go all out with built-in storage. There are also a few narrow-paneled walls and a laundry nook here for related ideas.
I especially love the little shelves that leave room for a picture or a plant.
Mudroom walls and storage ideas to save
white panels and black hooks
We’re starting off strong with this pretty white wall and black hooks. I love the brown bag beside the tan coat.
The little framed landscape on the ledge is such a lovely extra touch.
If you don’t need a bench, try keeping the floor open like this. A plant in a basket can sit off to the side.
sage green and paired wreaths
How cute is this green entryway? The narrow vertical panels sit behind a simple brown bench, with pale pillows and a fringed throw on top.
Try hanging two matching framed wreaths above the trim if you want to follow this look. The little potted tree is worth keeping too.
shoes above the baskets
This storage setup may just be one of my favorites here. I love how each section has a small shelf for shoes with a basket directly underneath.
The pale wall panels and gold-tone hooks keep the upper half simple. Add a couple of pillows at one end if you want a spot to sit without filling the whole bench.
dark panels and a long shelf
I am obsessed with this dark paneled nook. The brown shelf and matching bench look so pretty against the nearly black background.
There’s plenty to love here, from the round baskets underneath to the leafy wallpaper beside it. For a similar arrangement, group plants and a framed print along the upper shelf.
green cabinets from top to bottom
If you are looking for storage above and below your bench, this one is for you. Green-gray cabinets sit over a row of basket cubbies, with open shoe spaces at the bottom.
I especially love the dark hooks against the green paneling. Keep your own baskets in a matching color if you like this tidy-looking arrangement.
charcoal walls and brown accents
Don’t want to stick with white walls? No problem!
This charcoal entry has dark overhead cabinets and narrow vertical paneling, with a long brown bench below.
The brown hook rail is my favorite detail. It follows the length of the bench without needing another shelf full of decorations.
two rows of pegs
How adorable is this little utility wall? There’s a cream pitcher, a wreath and even a watering can hanging from the white pegs.
Instead of using every peg for coats, you could save a few for brushes or garden accessories. I love the red flowers in the framed picture above.
white shelf with curved brackets
If you’re looking for a pale, simple setup, go with this white bench and tall rectangular panels. The curved shelf brackets are such a pretty detail.

Baskets fill the spaces underneath while another row sits up top. Try a single long pillow on the bench rather than adding one to every section.
patterned wallpaper and a gold mirror
This is one of my favorite ways to dress up an entryway. I love the ornate gold-colored mirror beside that pale shelf.
The patterned wallpaper gives you so much to look at above the taupe paneling.

For a similar look, carry the wall color onto a closed storage bench. Little gold-tone pulls are a lovely finishing touch.
a simple white bench nook
Don’t want to go overboard with the decor? No problem! This white paneled nook has a dark brown seat, black hooks and an empty shelf above.
Leave the lower cubbies open for shoes, or add baskets if you’d rather tuck smaller things away. You don’t have to fill every surface.
green cabinets in the laundry nook
Have a laundry area beside your mudroom? This photo is a laundry nook rather than a board-and-batten entry, but the green cabinets and brown slatted wall are a pretty color idea to borrow.
I love the trailing plant beside the lined wire baskets. A shelf like this could give you room for both storage and a little greenery.
a small wall beside the door
If you only have a narrow stretch of wall, this one is for you. White rectangular panels fit between the front door and the adjoining doorway, with black hooks across the top.
Hang a favorite picture above the rail to finish it off. The gold-colored frame looks so pretty with the hanging basket.
olive cabinets and a striped seat
I am obsessed with these olive cabinets. The striped bench cushion and pale horizontal paneling make this a lovely alternative to the vertical walls above.
The black pendant lights are another detail worth saving. If your mudroom opens into a long hallway, you could repeat the same light shape along it.
white pegs and garden accessories
This is another pretty way to turn everyday objects into part of the display. A black watering can and a little basket hang below a shelf filled with plants, pitchers and containers.
I especially love the long looped rug beater against the narrow white paneling. Try leaving a little space between hanging pieces so you can see each one.
separate bays and basket storage
Want a more divided setup? These tall white sections give each part of the bench its own hooks and upper basket cubby.
The checked pillows are so cute beside the plain ones. I’d keep the pale brown bench top and simple runner if you want this same neutral look.
beige panels and simple pegs
If you’re looking for something without lots of built-in cubbies, go with this long brown bench against a beige paneled wall. The short pegs and extra row of small panels up top are my favorite details.
Try a boot tray beneath one end, just like this. It gives your boots a separate spot without adding another cabinet.
an arched entry nook
How pretty is this view through the arch? The brown paneled wall, little bench and hanging basket make such a lovely entry nook.
I love the dark flower shapes across the pale floor. If you already have a patterned floor, try keeping the wall decorations simple with one long framed picture.
lit shoe cubbies
The little lights under this bench are such a good detail! Each shoe cubby is lit from above, with a long row of baskets higher up on the wall.
There’s also a tall closed cabinet at the right. Save this arrangement if you want open storage for everyday pieces plus somewhere to put things out of sight.
a hat shelf and open bins
Have lots of hats to store? This long gray shelf puts them in a row above the hooks, rather than piling them into a basket.
The lower divided bins offer a different idea from the benches above. You could use a similar setup for small accessories, with boots lined up on trays below.
a little bench by a dark door
Last but definitely not least, we have this sweet little entry bench. I love the pale paneling beside the dark green door!
Two baskets sit in the upper cubbies while the lower storage has doors.
The hanging flowers are such a pretty finishing touch. Try a basket on one hook if you want to add greenery without taking up the seat.
