Looking for ikea mudroom hacks to give shoes, coats and bags a spot of their own? These ideas include basket-filled benches, tall cabinets and little wall organizers.
There are a few projects still in progress too, so you can see the details before everything is finished.
You can keep things simple or plan a whole storage wall. I especially love the painted cabinets and matching hooks. Pick out the layout you like, then borrow the colors and little extras that suit your entryway.
Mudroom storage ideas worth saving
sage cabinets and matching paneling
We’re starting off with this pretty sage cabinet project. I love how the paneled fronts match the vertical wall panels.
The white tops are still exposed here, so this is a work-in-progress view rather than a finished bench.
If you want a similar look, carry one paint color across your cabinet fronts and the wall behind them.
a locker for every bag
How cute are these little individual storage spots? The tall white sections have bags and jackets hanging in the middle, with shoes below and gray bins across the top.
Try assigning each person a section. Small photos above the hooks, like the ones here, are a sweet way to make the spaces their own.
basket cubbies below the bench
If you love a simple white bench, this one is worth saving. The dark baskets fill the open cubbies below, while the wall above mixes horizontal boards with tall rectangular trim.
This project is still underway, with tools sitting on top. I’d keep the baskets matching like these when finishing the space.
slatted backing and black handles
I am obsessed with this entryway combination. The light brown slats, white cabinet fronts and long black handles look so good together.
There’s a tall cabinet on the left plus closed storage above and below the hanging area. Try a black hanging rail if you’d rather use hangers than hooks for your coats.
trim around plain white fronts
Want to give plain cabinets a little more detail? This close-up shows pale trim outlining the white fronts, with dark horizontal gaps between them.
The surface work is still in progress here. Use the framed edges as inspiration for your own project, then check which preparation and finish your cabinet surface needs.
gray storage and checked pillows
This gray mudroom may just be one of my favorites here. I love the two rows of pale baskets above the hooks.
The checked pillow and smaller orange-brown pillow are so pretty together.
Keep a few open shoe slots above the lower drawers if you want to follow this layout.
white shelves in a beige nook
Don’t want to fill your wall with coat hooks? No problem! This nook pairs a white two-door cabinet with open shelves and curved brackets.
I love the black round knobs against the white doors. For a mudroom version, you could add a small tray on the counter for keys.
tall doors and top baskets
If you’re looking for storage that keeps things out of sight, go with a wall of tall doors like this. The white fronts have long black handles, with brown baskets tucked into the open space above.
Those baskets are a lovely detail to borrow without adding more decoration to the doors.
brown fronts and an arched mirror
I love the grain pattern across these brown cabinet fronts. This is another project caught mid-update, with a darker finish being applied to one of the doors.
The arched mirror and little gallery of pictures above are worth saving too. Try that pairing if you want your entryway storage to feel a little less like a row of cupboards.
a narrow stack of paneled fronts
Have a narrow wall beside your doorway? This tall stack of white paneled fronts gives you a layout to consider.
The dark gaps between the panels keep each section visible.
Measure your available depth and door clearance before choosing cabinets for a similar spot.
fluted fronts around an open nook
How pretty is this fluted detail? The pale brown vertical lines run across the tall cabinet front and the lower doors, leaving a white nook beside the tower.

The installation is still in progress. If you’re planning to use a similar lower unit as seating, make sure it’s designed and supported for that use.
a little yellow step stool
Not every idea needs to be a whole cabinet makeover! This yellow step stool has brown treads, with the bright frame doing most of the decorating.
It’s pictured in a kitchen rather than a mudroom, but you could borrow the color combination for a stool in your entryway. Keep it clear of the doorway.

a wall of vertical fluting
If you loved the fluted fronts above, here’s a larger version of that look. Closely spaced brown lines cover a broad bank of tall doors, with no visible handles interrupting the pattern.
I’d leave the surrounding walls simple, just like this, rather than add lots of little decorations.
a basket bench by the door
This is actually one of my favorite layouts for a small entryway. The white storage tower sits beside a low bench, with matching baskets filling the open squares.
I love the little round knobs on the upper doors. Add a separate row of black hooks above your bench if you want the same arrangement.
dark bench and white cabinets
The dark bench top and matching shelf are so pretty against these white cabinets. Tall storage frames the central nook, with drawers below and baskets up top.

Try a colorful pillow like the teal one here if you want one little splash of color. You don’t need to add much else.
open shoe shelves and a basket tower
Want to see your shoes without opening a drawer? This bench has open shelves underneath, plus a tall column of baskets on the left.
I especially love the leafy pillow and the brackets beneath the top shelf. The paneled backing continues onto the side wall, which is a nice detail to borrow for a corner.
taupe cabinets with little lights
I am obsessed with this taupe storage wall. The cabinet fronts and vertical backing share the same color, with small lights shining down above the hooks.
The floral pillow looks lovely beside the pale bench top. Try silver-tone handles and hooks if you want to keep the same combination.
a pegboard for everyday extras
Don’t have room for a bench or tall cabinets? This wall organizer gives you a different idea to work with.
Headphones, glasses and papers each have a spot, with backpacks hanging below.

I love the little shelves for plants. For your own entryway, choose the attachments around what you actually drop by the door.
white drawers and gray baskets
This is another pretty basket-and-bench combination, but it keeps the storage to one upper row. Gray baskets sit above black hooks, with open slots and white drawers below the brown bench top.

Don’t want to add pillows or extra decor? Leave it simple like this.
a built-in spot for pet bowls
Last but definitely not least, we have this entryway with a pet bowl station. I love how the three bowls sit below the drawers rather than out in the middle of the hallway.
The upper cubbies and hooks still leave space for bags, hats and baskets. If you’re planning something similar, make sure the bowls can come out for cleaning.
