Looking for cabin decor ideas for small spaces that go beyond adding another plaid pillow? Think tucked-away beds, little dining nooks and shelves that make room for your everyday things.
These pictures give you plenty to work with, from a whole loft layout to a simple row of hooks.
You can keep things simple or go all out with patterns. I especially love the green kitchen cabinets and the curtained reading nook.
Start with whichever little corner of your cabin needs some attention.
Small cabin decorating ideas worth saving
bunks beneath the roof
We’re starting off strong with these adorable bunks tucked beneath the peaked ceiling. I love the leafy bedding and the little reading lights beside each bed.
The shallow book ledges are worth saving too. Try a similar wall display if you want to keep bedtime books nearby without adding a bedside table.
a little gallery corner
How cute is this collection of framed pictures? The landscapes run around both walls above the stove, with a heart decoration mixed in.
Try a small gallery above your own sitting area for the same collected look. Keep decorations and stored items outside your stove’s required clearances rather than copying the log placement here.
green cabinets and open shelves
I am obsessed with these dark green cabinets. The uneven countertop edges and rows of white dishes are so pretty together.
If you want to follow this kitchen, group your bowls and plates on the lower shelf. Save the higher spots for baskets and pieces you don’t reach for every day.
a loft in progress
This one is a layout idea rather than a finished decorating look. The loft sits beneath the sloping roof, with a narrow staircase along the left wall and open space underneath.

Picture a small sitting area below once the build is complete. Any version of this needs properly planned stairs and protective railings before use.
red and green plaid
If you love classic cabin patterns, this plaid sofa is for you. The red, green and tan checks cover everything from the broad seat cushions to the rounded arms.

For a smaller room, I’d borrow the pattern for one chair or a couple of pillows. You don’t have to fit a whole sofa to try this look.
a bench by the window
This dining nook may just be my favorite one so far. I love the long window-side bench and the little stools across from it.
The floral pillows are such a cute touch. Add a couple to your own bench if you want some pattern without covering the table.
a shelf with hooks
Don’t have room for an entryway cabinet? No problem! Try a small shelf with hooks like this one, with a spot for keys, a bag and your jacket.
I love the yellow flowers peeking out of the tote. A little color goes a long way against these pale walls.
white accents and paneled walls
If you’re looking for a simple bathroom color scheme, go with this mix of brown paneling, white fixtures and a dark vanity. The plain white shower curtain keeps the small room from getting too busy.
a curtained reading nook
How lovely is this tucked-away nook? The white curtains frame a long cushion piled with cream and tan pillows.
There are even little shelves at the end for books and decorations.
I’d keep the curtain panels plain like these. The overhead beams and patterned pillows already give you plenty to look at.
white walls and exposed beams
I love this white living area beneath the brown ceiling beams. The dining table sits just behind the sofa, with a large round pendant overhead.
If your cabin has one shared living and dining room, try repeating a color between the two areas. The white chairs and sofa do that beautifully here.
rocking chairs on the porch
Have a little porch to work with too? These matching rocking chairs are such a pretty starting point.
The pale cushions and fringed rug keep the colors simple against the black windows.
Try just one rocker and a small side table if your porch is narrower. Leave enough room for the chair to rock without blocking the walkway.
a hinged table under the window
This is a handy idea to save if a permanent dining table takes up too much room. The extended tabletop sits beneath the window, with visible hinges at the back and open shelves below.
I’d leave the top mostly clear so it can be used for different things throughout the day.
a chair and corner shelves
You don’t need a whole room for a reading spot. This pale armchair, round footstool and little side table make such a lovely corner.
My favorite detail is the pair of shelves above the table. Try those for books and a small plant if you don’t have space for a freestanding bookcase.
a weathered lantern display
Want a rustic detail without adding another piece of furniture? This weathered lantern hangs from a curled bracket on a rough-edged backboard.
I’d use it as an unlit decoration. The worn finish gives you plenty of character all on its own.
shelves in a narrow recess
This is another pretty way to use a little wall recess. Thick shelves sit above a stack of logs, with white flowers and a tiny bicycle ornament on display.
If you don’t need log storage, try baskets in the bottom section instead. Keep the upper shelves just as simple.
copper-colored pans on hooks
I am obsessed with this kitchen wall. The copper-colored pans look gorgeous against the pale background, especially with the white bowls on the shelf above.
Try hanging a few of your own pans on properly secured hooks. That gives you a display without needing to buy extra decorations.
greenery beside the staircase
If you love a cabin filled with plants, there’s plenty of inspiration here. Greenery trails beside the tall white chimney, with more plants along the low shelves beneath the sloping wall.

Borrow the shelf idea for your own plant corner. Choose a spot with suitable light and keep foliage safely away from the fireplace.
maps on the bathroom walls
Don’t want to keep every tiny room plain? This map-covered bathroom is for you.
Blue, green and pale yellow maps fill the walls above and beside the white tile.
Try a similar map collage in a small powder room if you love this look. The decoration stays on the walls rather than taking up floor space.
patchwork patterns and brown pillows
How pretty is this patterned bedding? Dots, triangles, little flowers and zigzags sit together in cream and dark earthy shades.
The plain brown pillows behind it are a detail I’d keep. You can bring plenty of pattern into a small bedroom without adding anything beyond the bed.
crate-style bathroom shelves
Last but definitely not least, we have these cute crate-style shelves. I love the white towels against the brown slats, with little green plants tucked beside them.
Try the same folded-and-rolled towel mix in your bathroom. If you include candles on shelves like these, choose flameless ones.
