20 Blanket Wall Decor Ideas and Details to Inspire Your Display

Looking for blanket wall decor that gives your favorite patterns a little more room to shine? Think bold star designs, colorful stripes or a row of neatly folded throws.

You can show off one large piece or make your blanket storage part of the room.

You can keep it simple or go all out with color. These pictures include wall displays plus a few close-up details and room ideas.

Not every blanket is already on the wall, so those examples are starting points rather than finished hanging arrangements.

Blanket displays and wall ideas worth saving

rust and charcoal fringe

We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous rust, cream and charcoal wall hanging. I love the chunky loops and all those different lengths of fringe.

The rust pillow and dark throw repeat the colors above the bed. Try that same little connection if you want your wall display and bedding to go together.

a bold black and white star

How pretty is this star design? The black and gray shapes take up almost the entire cream background, with a narrow black border around the edge.

If you want a blanket decor wall with one big pattern, this is a lovely direction to try. Keep the surrounding wall clear so you can see the whole star.

rust diamonds above the sofa

If you are looking for a smaller display, this one is for you. The narrow rust-colored hanging has three stacked diamond motifs and a patterned cream border.

I especially love the rust pillow underneath. You don’t need a wall-wide piece to bring a little color above your sofa.

a tall rack of colorful throws

Don’t want to display just one blanket? No problem!

This narrow wall rack holds a stack of rolled and folded throws, from red plaid to pale fringe.

The little vase of greenery on top is such a cute finishing touch. Try mixing your patterned blankets with plain ones rather than hiding the colorful pieces.

patchwork above the stairs

This is such a pretty use of a narrow stairwell wall. The red, green and cream patchwork hangs below a white shelf, with its red border showing along the bottom.

I love how the star shapes bring color to this little spot. For a similar stairway display, keep the blanket clear of the walking space.

a rust circle and long fringe

I am obsessed with this oversized rust circle. It’s so simple, plus the long cream fringe makes the hanging even prettier.

The white sofa sits right underneath with rust and black pillows. I’d keep the wall hanging as the only decoration above it, just like this.

a stack of neutral blankets

If you’re looking for blanket storage that keeps the colors simple, go with a display like this. Cream, beige and gray throws fill the tall brown rack beside the floor lamp.

The little patterned sections are my favorite part. You can still mix stripes, flowers and raised stitching without adding bright colors.

florals and checks on rails

If you love mixing patterns, then this one is for you. There’s a large rust floral piece at the back with smaller checked and plain throws hanging in front.

I love the gold-colored rail ends against the green wall. Try leaving some of the back pattern visible instead of covering it completely.

a circular pattern above the bed

How cute is this bedroom arrangement? The large cream hanging has a detailed circular pattern, with a strand of little lights curving above it.

The burgundy accent pillow has a circular motif too. That’s a pretty detail to borrow if you want to connect your pillows to your wall display.

a shelf with a hanging rail

Want the shelf and hanging space together? This empty brown rack shows a narrow ledge above a long rail, with shaped brackets at the sides.

There isn’t a blanket on it yet. A folded quilt with its pattern facing outward would be one way to turn this into a display.

navy checks beside an archway

This is another layered rail display, but the colors are a little different. I love the navy checks beside the cream throws and the long gray patterned piece.

The blankets fill the narrow wall beside the archway. Try this kind of arrangement when you have a slim section of wall rather than a big empty space.

flowers from edge to edge

I am obsessed with this floral wall hanging. The red, orange and blue details are so pretty against the pale background.

It stretches across much of the wall above the bed, with a patterned border framing the smaller designs. If you love lots of color, this gives you plenty to work with.

bright stripes in a draped display

Don’t want your blanket hanging in a straight rectangle? This striped piece takes a different approach, with raised corners and a raised center creating curved folds.

The striped pillows below pick up the same bright colors. I’d keep the pale bedspread if you want to try a similarly colorful combination.

little cats and a smiling sun

How adorable are these little cats? The pale blue piece also has a yellow smiling sun, a red-and-white ball and a small flower detail.

It’s being held up on a rod here rather than mounted on the wall. You could use this as inspiration for a playful hanging above a reading corner.

chunky cream tassels

Don’t want to add a colorful pattern? No problem there!

This close-up shows how much detail you can get from cream loops, uneven raised rows and big knotted tassels.

There’s no wall arrangement shown here, but I’d choose a display that leaves those tassels visible rather than folding them underneath.

colorful stripes in a frame

This may just be one of my favorite display ideas here. The cream piece has green, red, yellow and dark blue stripes, all enclosed in a simple pale frame.

Try a framed presentation if you prefer straight edges to hanging fringe. The horizontal shape looks so good above the brown sofa.

an open black wall basket

Here’s a different way to keep a blanket on display. This black wall-mounted holder has widely spaced bars and an angled front, with a brown throw gathered at the bottom.

Instead of showing one flat pattern, this arrangement shows the folds. I’d leave some of the bars visible rather than filling it right to the top.

pink patchwork and red florals

This picture is bedding inspiration rather than a blanket wall display. Still, how pretty is that pink patchwork with the red checked and floral pillows?

If you wanted to bring this idea onto a wall, a similarly patterned quilt could be your starting point. Keep a smaller floral or checked accent on the bed to carry the colors through.

a black hook rail

The wall rail here holds bags and jackets, not blankets. The beige fringed throw is on the bed, so this isn’t a finished blanket-hanging example.

If you’re considering a hook-based display, use this picture for the simple black rail idea. You’d still need a hanging method suited to your blanket rather than assuming these hooks will work.

checks behind the dining table

Last but definitely not least, we have this large checked hanging behind a dining table. I love the rust, cream and dark sections, especially the rows that switch from little checks to longer stripes.

The mismatched chairs make the room even more fun. You don’t have to limit your blanket display to a bedroom or living room.
